If you have ever tried to drive around Calgary lately you will find the whole friggen city is under construction, the airport is no different. Lots of tax dollars to get rid of.
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Mayby with all that tax dollar, they could paint some better centreline markings on 16/34. I went in there the other night when it was a monsoon, could not even see the centerline until we were on the runway, and even then! How about some centreline lighting??
ziggy - I hear the gentle plopping of horse "feathers'. There is a lot of construction going on all thru Alberta. Lots of oil revenue and tax dollars to spend while we have them. Lots of venture capital available. I may be wrong but if there was an incident with our fabled WJ, I am sure it would be all over the media, except that WJ have a lot of spin doctors who may be able to bury an incident from the general public. I worked for an asphalt contractor for years and asphalt does not conduct electricity. The only way a hole can appear in a runway is if an airplane catches fire and burns to the ground. There is an ongoing major reconstruction project at the terminal building and my guess is they could be upgrading the jetfuel pipeline or electrical services, or maybe Gomer the Gopher chewed into a lighting cord or maybe they are getting ready for the Airbus 380. Could be any number of innocent reasons. It was open as of Wednsday evening. The whole airport infastructure is due for a major overhaul. All the money was spent on terminal building upgrades and this is just an extension of the project. It may be nearing the end. This is just my guess.
