You can have alook at http://www.fltduty.ca

FLTDUTY XLS is a Windows application that allows you to track duty time, flight time and rest for any type of operation. It will indicate compliance with the CARs and CASS and flag any violations...

Contact me directly (email) and I will set you up with a free trial download so you can have a look.

Eric :)

You can use this free Excel spreadsheet:
http://www.electrocution.com/docs/canduty.xls

I have modified it somewhat to manually account for blocks of 5 days off and instructions to reset hours , and also include instructions for the various Ops Specs so if you like the layout, pm me and I will send you the modified file (no charge either). If you have some spare time and are good with Excel spreadsheets, you could likely figure out the formulas to get the spreadsheet to auto-reset - it shoulcn't be too difficult, just takes a bit of time and brain power.

Cheers,
Snoopy

Why pay $250+ when Excel will do it freely. Heh. Not to mention a spreadsheet is cross-platform compatible. ... if there are any Linux users in the crowd.

I agree with small penguin. It takes only a few hours to set up and you just make a new file for each pilot. All of our duty times and maintenance tracking is done on very basic excel spreadsheets.

Granted, Im GA, so mine differ much from the drivers but I've got a spreadsheet for each of the following:

pilot logbook
journey log
tech logs
maintenance (when each item is due in terms of hours and/or time)
fuel consumption with averages
flying expenses

Really doesnt take long to make. And in fact, more fun to do your own as its fully customized to your liking. Its all about the =SUM() hehe.

Thanks for the kind words and the support. FLTDUTY was originally an Excel spreadsheet but I soon found there were too many complications and convolutions of times, options and alternatives in the CARs and CASS. It is now a Visual Basic application and there are over 200 "known" users out there. It has had life of its own and has been a great hobby.

You don't need to spend $250 unless you want multi-pilot capability. I have a Single Pilot version which is full functioning but only takes records for one pilot for $80 if you are interested in tracking this stuff on your own. A lot of operators have FLTDUTY and they are perfectly welcome to give you a copy of it for your own records during your employment... Otherwise, I guess it isn't free but it does seem to handle all the options and alternatives and is quite easy to use.

And I'm always available for help and am very interested in feedback.

Remember it is the air operator who has to have a system to monitor flight duty times etc. and is suppose to be described in the operations manual. Why use something different or use two systems then complain on the amount of paperwork that you have to do.

Extra paperwork?...Eric's program couldn't be any easier to use. Enter duty start, duty end and flight time. It's awesome for visualizing how you stand at any given moment and can be used to plan your days well in advance.

Remember also, that the rule states no company shall assign and no pilot shall accept! It's nice to know when your employer is about to make a mistake which you are going to be half responsible for.
