Montair
Very racist attitude been directed towards students by staff and Management which is a shame because this is what is keeping this company afloat. The owner Mr Sun will be informed and hopefully things will change for the better. Copied also to PPRUNE

You really need to work on being able to construct coherent groupings of words.
We can't stop here! This is BAT country!
Re: Montair
What else is new with Montair.
Why do people still go to this school?
Why do people still go to this school?
Re: Montair
Airlines continue to hire this school because the school continues to claim that they can churn out licensed students in a year or less at a cut-throat price. The poor bastard instructors have to put up with the Neufeldesque management style (yep it continues long after the man was canned by the Chinese owners), and either turn out results, resign in disgrace - which Montair loves because then they try and blacklist former employees, or get fired, and then they certainly blacklist you.
As for "local" students, the school's position from day one was that they are unwelcome because they would take time away from getting the Chinese students done. And they also felt that local students are too much of a liability, because they damage aircraft - which the Chinese certainly never do (check the CADORS about the 152 vs. Navajo incident for example).
And the best part is when you learn about the CFI, PRM, and COO all kicking back and enjoying their six figure salaries, regardless of flying. Oh, and they also get huge bonuses if classes finish on time or ahead of schedule...

A poor show for sure. Hopefully they get to fix the racist comments.

Probably not the smartest idea to be posting this kind of intel with an account that you're also using to actively job hunt.

Snakes, thanks for the advice. However, my morals and values are more important to me than
finding an Instructing position. Guess I'm pretty jaded with racism in any form as I've been around
it all my life.

If I was in a position to hire people, I'd hire this guy for his character alone. This industry needs more people who will stand up to unscrupulous owners.snakesonaplane wrote:Probably not the smartest idea to be posting this kind of intel with an account that you're also using to actively job hunt.

Run, don't walk away. There are always other options. There is no need to prostrate ones self, make that whore ones self out, to any operator for a job.

Re: Montair
I wouldn't be so sure of that. I'm assuming he willingly worked there in the first place given the tone of this thread. It merely appears the place was so bad even he couldn't work there. Either way, the bizarre way its been posted here doesn't have the chutzpa to really be "standing up" but rather has the air of facebook retaliation.Bede wrote:If I was in a position to hire people, I'd hire this guy for his character alone. Ever wonder why he has to find a new place to instruct every year?

Re: Montair
Thank you for all the kind and decent words guys. There are definitely more decent operators and schools out there. Since posting this I have received some e mails from former employees backing up my former posts. Not a pleasant environment to be in and if you need any more details please just PM me.

Re: Montair
YPK ATC definitely deserves credit for the patience they have with some of the Montair students... Although the radio work does seem better this year than in the past.
Re: Montair
The latest story I've heard is that a few instructors at YPK have been told to leave, apparently due to a lack of work. And then a week or so later Montair hired four or more Mandarin speaking instructors.

Well that's your fault for not knowing Mandarin!
Come on, Vancouver is a "multicultural city" you should be learning all the languages used here to keep your job.

He didn't stand up to unscrupulous owners. What he's posted so far can be taken as slander or liable. He hasn't supported his argument. For all we know, he can be a disgruntled ex employee.
Again, he does seem to be looking for work every couple months. Something seems a little fishy.

Mandarin appears to be the language of aviation out here, particularly in the Pitt Lake and Glen Valley practice areas. And TC couldhn;t care less!

That's because it's only offending the "old stock" Canadians...

Rob: Let me know of your thoughts after you/ve had a nasty encounter with one of the people who does not understand English.
As your avatar implies, once again you take a very simplistic view of flight safety

Re: Montair
The question is, is there really any difference between these students speaking Mandarin over the radio or piss poor English?
Either way, you can't be sure what the hell they are trying to broadcast, and you know they do not understand what you are saying or asking either. These students are taught a highly regimented system for broadcasts, "you say this and only this" sort of deal. When anything abnormal happens, just hope like hell they are dual, otherwise you can't be sure what is going to happen.

Re: Montair
You can be very certain that the Asian students are being taught both in the air and on the ground, in their own language and their instructors are hew Cl 4s who have the same linguistic problems.
As a retired ATC, I had to deal with the situation on a regular basis and it was not fun trying to second guess what they wanted. One of the most dangerous instructor/pilots at XXX was an Asian who could not understand simple instructions to allow me to do a runway change.
And of course they are not required to rake the English Language Proficiency exam until just before their flight test. Then of course there is always the fat wallet that might get them a pass.
