Yes! Having your AAs (AAs written) is important, but not a disqualifying factor. If you have experience they will take you. I know some people that got a bit too busy with life and never wrote their AAs, but have their CPL + IATRA and over 2000 hrs and were hired.

One in my course IATRA only, 1900 hours and a buddy was hired earlier this year sub 1500 with IATRA but had the PIC requirements already done for the AAs.

Well, it seems like ME time is a big factor, ME PIC time even bigger....nothing out of the ordinary. Are all newbies going onto the dash/q400?

He is building his own SIM out plywood/cardboard in his room down in the parents basement. I am sure when it's operational he will certainly enlighten us when he gets the call from JAZZ, there will be no need for a SIM evaluation because there isn't much if anything he doesn't know or has seen with the newly constructed device.......

Last class had 2 RJs I believe and about 5 or 6 Q400s, the rest being "Classic". They were all YUL based. Some people pick the plane, some pick the base.

Since Nov there has been around 12 RJ spots. There majority of hiring going onto the classic with a number of Q400.

An instructor colleague of mine got a call for an interview early Dec 2016. 1800 TT, 700 multi with AA's. All time was acquired from instructing. As of last week, I heard from a Jazz FO that Jazz is no longer calling instructors unless they have multi crew time (according to one of the chief pilots).
Can anybody verify this? I'm at 1650TT 550 multi and awaiting ATPL stickers in the mail, was hoping for a call for an interview in the next months.

Are you me? I have quite literally the exact same experience as you - 1650TT, 550MPIC, ATPL Sticker in the mail all instructor time. I put in an application in November and have an internal recommendation on file and still nothing.

Going to a 705 with only instructing time just seems wrong

Understandable. But I think they're starting to look into that avenue. Two of my instructor colleagues got calls for a video interview but were unsuccessful. I luckily got through the video interview and just booked a sim eval so maybe I can provide hope to others in my shoes.

I've seen a few instructors come thru training on the CRJ. Yes, it is a big jump, but the individuals were capable pilots and handled the aircraft well.

Yup! Agreed! 500 hrs Multi Crew should be a minimum. I can't go and be a class I instructor with 3000 hrs Jet time... Just saying...

Just heard that a Sault College grad with 500 hrs (max) is now on course with Jazz on the RJ. Wow, times are changing.
