A gender specific scholarship should not offend anyone because scholarships are defined by the person or group giving them out, there are plenty of scholarships out there for just about everything and anyone. There is one for someone with natural red hair and blue eyes, there is even a white male scholarship, the fine print says anyone can apply although no one does because the title of it deters anyone other than white male from applying.
It's unfortunate that some groups are hindered by stereotypes and also unfortunately most who are in charge of hiring have personal bias towards opposite genders or groups, there is no way around this because it comes from both sides. Could let a computer decide who gets the job.

I know there can be arguements forwarded for confounding effects on national economic status other than population growth rate- but the common predictor of economic growth/success is population growth.

I think France, Quebec , and Brazil are some examples used to show the multidecadal pay off of Govt -have- lots -of- Babies policies. Cant remember exactly, and cant find reference text...

That wasn't what I had in mind. I believe that reward should be based on merit and little else. If I were to set up a scholarship it would not be gender or race specific. That said, the individual setting up the scholarship in question is doing so with their own money and hence free to do as they see fit. I will admit that I'm not sure how I would feel about patronizing a business that supports genderism and misandry.

Well, there seem to be a lot of female only scholarships. I remember a girlfriend with high marks that wanted to be an electrical engineer. She has all kinds of scholarships($1500 here, $2000 there) available to females only. I was thinking that it might be cool to somehow see the exact same worded thing somehow for males. Would that be discrimination?

For the record, Women in Aviation International encourages men to apply for scholarships, unless the entity providing the scholarship indicates otherwise (same goes with country of citizenship):

Thanks for the info. I read the rest of the sentence that you pointed out which says..."unless the sponsor specifies that the scholarship is for women only". I would assume that most women's scholarships are meant for............women only. Very nice of them to let guys spend a bunch of time applying though.

Well, for the record.. I have applied for several and have yet to be selected. It's quite a process to apply so if a guy wants to put forth the effort I think he'd have about as much success as me
