The Ol' PFO
Hey all,
Just got PFO'd from AC. Anyone ever been PFO'd, re-applied and got a job?
Thanks,
RP

Re: The Ol' PFO
I personally know at least a dozen I've flown with who were PFO'd at one point or another.
So, absolutely re-apply.
Cheers, DP.

I have also worked with guys/gals that had to give it another go. Keep your chin up. Lots more hiring to come in the foreseeable future at AC. In time they will be hoping you reapplied!!

Re: The Ol' PFO
I thought I remember reading that the all time record for PFO's and subsequently being hired stood at 6 for Air Canada.
Re: The Ol' PFO
I'd say keep trying as long as you keep the faith alive.
by that time, you will eventually find something that will fullfill your career goals and make AC look less interesting in comparison.

Until you receive a restraining order keep applying. Don't let something like a letter stop you from your job of choice. Not that I have any inside knowledge but if I were an HR person Id be impressed with someone willing to sit in the hot seat again, especially if they improve their interview skills. Also human nature being what it is, the last person you may have just rubbed the wrong way, they didn't like your cologne, maybe you remind them of a X. Good luck, keep trying.

I think it goes a long way that you really want to be there.
Long history of applying, reapplying, and continued progression professionally and personally, with the stated goal of reaching Air Canada.
Good luck.

I think Ruppert should take Air Canada HR manager and tapes him with duct tape on a chair !
But seriously it seems that a lot of people need a few shot to land a job with AC.

Re: The Ol' PFO
The entire process just seems so strange. I was part of the second PMA at Jazz with about 3500 hours (half PIC from floats up north) and Jet time from the RJ. I just ran into someone at Jazz who was on the PML 1.0 and doesn't have an ATPL (right from college) but AC has told them once they have their ATPL they get a ground school date. I've heard of a few people with that offer actually. I don't mind staying at Jazz at all for my career but I guess these are the types of people they want now? I'm no amazing pilot by any stretch of the imagination but I can only assume answering a question or two the way they didn't want to hear it out weighed experience and command time. I will for sure take another crack at applying in 6 months but I'm not really sweating too much considering I'll have a left seat here for 25 years.
Thanks for all the advice!

Hey Rupert. What's your post Secondary education situation? I hear it makes a difference.
I'm in your same boat with the float and PIC time. Just did the video interview waiting on a reply.

Re: The Ol' PFO
Any idea how long they mean when you get PFO but in the email they state that they will contact you for a second interview when they are able to?
6 months?
6 months?

Got the PFO a few days ago. College Diploma. 1000 hrs RJ PIC. Clean flight tests record. Had many training Captains as my references. Interview I thought went amazing. Very confused with the results. I’m upset to see that the groundschool I was supposed to be in was mostly OTS and next ones will GGN.
Hate me or Like me. Both days I get paid.
