Do you carry your logbook with you in flight?

When I was a student, I used to carry it, along with everything else with me.

I used to carry it too. My first chief pilot saw this and said carrying it around was greater risk of losing it. Forget your flight bag, have your car broken into, leave it at an FBO, etc. Sounded like good advice to leave it at home.

I never bring it, but also my logbook is Log10 Pro on my Mac so I don't bring my Mac with me everywhere. But I wouldn't suggest bringing a physical book either

I've been digital for a while. I update after my flight and occasionally print a hard copy that goes in a binder.

It's probably been around 10,000 hours since I updated my log book. I might do it on a beach somewhere after I retire

Exactly, very good advice indeed. Hence why I went through the grueling task of creating a online/digital logbook before I had too many hours to copy over. Paper book is safe at home, and I have access, practically anywhere, to my online logbook.

I carry mine on board so I can update it in cruise flight. Its a pain in the ass and gives me something to do. Maybe a guy should just scan an email the last 3 months then leave it, but I hate not keeping it up.

The amount of flying I do, I don't trust myself to say I'll do it at the end of the month.
4 years. 2 years and 1 1/2 years of NOT logging routinely was a b!tch to fill in.

Now it's done after every leg. it only takes 9 seconds out of my day after engine shutdown. Better than the weeks and weeks it took to catch up.

At this stage I don't really need to keep it current...but I do it for my kids to have a record of my whole flying career.

Nope. Paper logbook stays home. I have a digital logbook which I can access from any connected device anywhere in the world, as long as I have a connection to the webbernet.

My father got shot down and got blood all over his. Not too common these days but leave it at home.

There are two type of pilots out there. There are the type who carry their logbook and can tell you that they have 153.85 hours as of today. There are also the "somewhere north of 5000 hours" pilots. I am now squarely in the second category. When I went for my last medical I wrote "more than last year" in the box that asks for my total time.

Electronic book updated after every flight.

It's an unpredictable business and while I have a pretty solid gig, you just never know if the carpet will be pulled out. I'd rather do it this way than spending weeks on end having to update for an interview.
