Introduction

Post by GIJones »

Hi all,

After reading quite a few threads I decided to register and wanted to become more involved, instead of skulking in the shadows. I'm currently a British Military pilot flying twin turbos and have 450 or so hours (made up of some rotary in there as well).

My interest in Canada comes from a farming back ground which fostered a passion for "the great outdoors". That combined with a love of flying is pushing me towards a flying job in Canada. I have very little interest in flying heavy stuff. I have spent 9 years being bounced around away from home during my army career  and would prefer a more stable lifestyle.

I'm look forward to speaking to you all and absorbing some of your experience and knowledge and perhaps passing on some of mine (although that won't take long  )

Cheers

Jonesy

Dead chuffed to have you check in here.

Best wishes that you may find what you're looking for in this great country.

The western provinces are (arguably) the best.

Very good knowledge, although I fly the Islander at the moment. I'm sure I will get converted to the Defender soon enough though as the Islander is going.

And thank you all for the kind welcome. I would not be averse to the idea of crop dusting haha.

Welcome. I read through the posts to see if someone mentioned this. If you have a farming background, spraying would be right up your ally. Get some tail wheel time and go mix for a season, then make some good money spraying. I love spraying and hope to never give it up entirely. It probably isn't too late to get hired to mix for this summer. Target Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta.

Thanks Adam, it's really helpful to hear about all the options available. We don't do aerial crop spraying over here in the UK so that's a great insight to have. Sounds quite appealing if you can make some good money too, although that's not what drives me.
