Aircraft Management
Hi im just curious what happens to an aircraft and the pilot after flights. What happens after short flight for example Manila-Hongkong 2hrs flight, will the plane go back to manila with the same pilot? Or will the plane be parked or will stay on the gate if it need to stay overnight? Or they will change the pilot? And how about long flights? For example is Sydney-Lax, same questions. Please im just curious because some pilot says their duty is like 14-16hrs a day, so does it mean they fly for 14-16hrs a day? Or do they have other jobs exect for flying?
Re: Aircraft Management
Not an expert since I don't work in the industry but from what I know here is usually what happens:
1. Short haul, the plane just fly the return leg and then do more flights. Pilots and cabin crew usually just goes back with the plane.
2. Long haul, planes goes back with new crew while the old crew get a few days off.
For example, Toronto to Bridgetown (Barbados), the crew goes back after 45 minutes on the ground. Another example would be HKG to YVR where the pilots and crew get 3 days rest but the plane goes back right the way with another crew that arrived in YVR 3 days ago.

Lonhjohn you appear to be dehydrated from pissing in others cornflakes & it's affecting your brain.
Take a pill ,simple question & someone tried to offer an answer that would be corrected by someone in the industry.

Re: Aircraft Management
Is the question regarding a corporate jet owner hiring a management company to deal with the day-to-day operation? Or is it a question regarding how airlines typically "manage" or operate their aircraft?
Re: Aircraft Management
If you find my answer to be incorrect or lacking, please do correct it. I simply used what I know with my limited industry exposure but of course different companies do things differently. Given the ports in the original question, I was assuming the poster was asking about airline operation.

Yours was a good answer. I'm looking for more clarification on the question.moocow wrote:If you find my answer to be incorrect or lacking, please do correct it.
