Preparation for the TC PPL Written

I am preparing for my TC PPL Written Exam from this book 'From the Ground Up', what other material should I be referring to ?
Other possible websites? Books or material ?

Practice map reading and trip planning since you will get questions based on a sample map.

Get a ground school study course with questions and answers at the end of it.

Use a black marker and black out all the wrong answers.

Read the questions and the correct answer to the questions over and over.

Go and write the exam after you have gone over all the questions with the correct answers for a couple of days and you will pass the exam with no problem.

Seriously tough, the AIM is a great reference and so is the Weather Command for everything WX. However, let me recommend that since you are just starting out, you should actually attend a classroom environment or at least get your materials from pilottraining.ca. The PPL requires the normal person to digest a large amount of new knowledge and it is generally better to have the help of a teacher/mentor/friend to help you out initially.

When you write a TC exam what percentage of the questions you answered do you remember and need in your day to day flying?

If you are faced with having to know the answer to a rule and you can not remember it the obvious solution is find the answer.

I wouldn't say close to zero but...say 30%? Does that sound fair?
I'm as guilty as they come to cramming my head days before the exam and then just dumping everything the minute I walk out of the TC office.

Don't cram it, learn it and remember it when you need to! Do as many practice exams as you can get your hands on (your FTU should be able to help). When you find a question you don't know - take the time to learn & understand the answer.

Get the FTGU Workbook. learn those answers from there because there are some pretty esoteric questions there. I used an ios app from Hangarr PPL test. It was a pay app but it has mostly the same questions on the exam but the NAV section is not really able to transfer on the phone. This and living with the books in my hand for a couple of weeks got me an 83%. I think I did really well on the meteorology and nav were my best scores because I studied those the hardest. Good Luck
