Let's not waste our time big guy. The only version of history that's relavent to me is the one I saw unfolding right before my eyes eight years ago. The only one that's relavent to you is the one you know. Bottom line is we are where we are and we're dealing with it. When you and I are retired, the saga will end.
Re: Jazz Jazz Jazz !!
Is that fight between the OAC and former CDN pilots still going on? I mean jesus Christ folks give it a rest already. Don't you guys/gals as a collective group have more pressing issues comming up? Don't we all for that matter with oil going up and our economy tanking?

KAG. You're right. But why should you care? I mean you're not in it anymore.
Re: Jazz Jazz Jazz !!
Tony, I Never was affected by it.
It's just annoying to hear about bitterness between two groups of grown adults over something that happened what 10ish years ago. OAC drivers had their day in court and lost. As did Jazz with the common employer lawsuit, ya don't hear them bitching about it near as much.
All I'm saying is get over it (if this fight is infact still going on, if not my bad). You guys have enough to worry about aside from internal squabbling.

Yes, you're right, there are bigger fish to fry. But what happened years ago still affects almost everyone today and for years to come. I would say we are dealing with it very well actually. It seldom comes up at work and by and large the group is setting its sights on 09. But that doesn't mean history won't come up from time to time. Heck the OCP are still talking about all their past mergers of 15-20 years ago. Ah such rich history canadian aviation is. And you know what? I don't mind being a part of it. For better or for worse, at the end of the day, it's still a great place to be. Thirty three hundred pilots can tell you the same, no matter what their background. Of course when you work in such a perfect environment like you do, it's hard to understand. Oh and by the way, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on our worries. That's a story that's just as old.

No. They just quietly want to sue the pants off of us....ya don't hear them bitching about it near as much.

Re: Jazz Jazz Jazz !!
First, this is glad I am where I am. Second, this OAC vs OCP hatred SHOULD be a lesson to any 2 airlines thinking of merging; maaaaaybe not a good idea, culture-wise, unless it's do or die. You're going to see the same crap happen in the states when the big boys start merging.

I'm glad you feel all warm and cosy about where you are. I know it's easy to draw to certain conclusions when you're on the outside and even more so when you're the competition but without getting too detailed let me say that this is not the distraction or problem you think it is or that makes or brakes anything. Other mergers have been far more nasty and the ones that will happen down south will cause huge anymossities because of the scale of impact. History buffs will from time to time bring up the subject but it doesn't mean there are fist fights or people are looking to go to greener (tealer?) pastures over this. That would have been a sad situation.
Re: Jazz Jazz Jazz !!
I also worked at a company that was the product of buyouts and mergers. It wasn't all that pleasant environment, but I don't think it was even close to what went on between your 2 companies.

The AC/CP merger was the largest in Canadian aviation history. Over 40,00 employees, approx 3000 pilots were affected. That in itself is something to talk about now and then. We can agree to disagree on who gained and who lost forever, but it was a massive undertaking and in the end, a job well done by both management and employees. Apples and...?

Re: Jazz Jazz Jazz !!
Same Crap.....Look at the US Air and AWA merger south of the border, way worse than the AC and CDN. Not to mention they are looking at merging with UAL now. Personally I wish them all the best. Some mergers do and can work out. The Jazz one (I did not go through it) seemed to have worked out fine. DOH and it was done. Yes I am sure some where not happy but it does not seem to be a major topic of discussion in the crew rooms nowadays.First, this is glad I am where I am. Mergers is sort of a reality in today's world. Companies don't do it because they like each other. Some work out fine, some don't. Unfortunetly you can't predict a merger nor can you predict how it will work out..........and no airline is immune to it.
Best of luck to you guys there Tony, hopefully you guys can have that issue resolved (if you haven't already) before your tackle the big fish in 09.

Your sliging mud now in the Sunwing forum!jjj wrote:FICU,
when someone comes out fighting - they will get a fight from me.
As far as how I represent my company - I will staunchly defend it and I can back up any statement I make on this forum. I will also never sling mud at any other airline - easy to do now that JetsGo doesn't exist.
If somebody says something really stupid - If I feel like typing - I will call them on it. If I fall for a troll every now and again - oh well. I'm not wasting time here - the trolls are.
The PM feature did not occur to me - so I have since edited my previous post.
Stinky - check your PMs.
Later.
