Fox, CNN, OtherAlphabetMedia , -no difference, they all exist only to sell laundry soap and really crappy products.

Consumerism and planned obsolescence have intentionally replaced real education, rendering us more controllable, particularly in the last thirty years.
Cheering one advertising venue over another, and squabbling about a preference for the blue sock puppet over the red sock puppet are equally meaningless.

There is a place on the political spectrum called the "center" that actually comprises the majority of people, especially Canadians. You don't see it Foggy because anybody not standing exactly where you are is to your left. Hence all the "leftie" comments. The Old Fogducker wrote:Boosted ... a typical left-wing post, as I predicted would take place.

ITSP:
Its too bad the Soviet Union fell, or you could listen on shortwave to the rantings of Radio Moscow for several hundred hours as I did. It was Radio Peking though, that used to have me laughing myself silly over what a paradise Chairman Mao had created for the working class.
I found it to be hilarious, you may have found it to be inspirational ... lots and lots of stories about how wonderful life was living on a collective.
Perhaps you may have had the opportunity to go live in the Soviet Union for awhile like Lee Harvey Oswald did.
Sudbury had a sort of "Communist Underground" when I lived there in the late 60's and I even attended a number of their meetings.....except my purpose in being there was to monitor their activities, take names, and transcribe my recollections of their speeches asap after exiting the meeting.

Yeah, I'll bet they were pretty funny broadcasts. Though really, those countries weren't truly communist. They were more or less dictatorships/oligarchies. A true communist country is democratic from what I remember from the Manifesto.
Sounds like you had some kind of interesting job back then too. Like a spy or something. You must have some neat stories.
I've often thought about becoming a spy, but I don't like the whole "danger" thing. I'll stick to watching James Bond.
We're way off on the ends of the political spectrum, you and I Fogducker, but at least we still have some semblance of free speech left in this country to talk about it. We're pretty lucky!

Correct ITSP ... and don't think that freedom to make posts like these came cheaply either.
Its because of people like my grandfather, and stepfather who went off to war and were lucky or skillful enough to survive and come home to instill a good sense of values in their offspring.
I have yet to see a Communist country which didn't suppress free speech, and jail or murder those who wrote or spoke against Communism.
ITSP, when you become established in life and your work eventually begins to pay off, you may not appreciate someone coming along and telling you aren't entitled to it and decide to take it from you ... that's socialism..... a legalized form of theft, based in envy.

Re: Another quality FoxNews moment
That's an excellent point. It's also noteworthy that throughout history it has been governments on the extremes (left and right) that punish people for speaking freely. Perhaps it's because extremists from either end are easily manipulated by leaders who are really only interested in one thing...power. To them ideology is nothing more than a means to an end.istp wrote:We're way off on the ends of the political spectrum, you and I Fogducker, but at least we still have some semblance of free speech left in this country to talk about it. Agreed. Not unlike Capitaine Poutine dissolving Parliament and calling two elections three years into five year mandates. This despite having rock-solid majorities at the time...leaders who are really only interested in one thing...power. To them ideology is nothing more than a means to an end.

you have to be an extra idiot to be manipulated by the flagship model... at least if I get duped by obama I can say, that smart lawyer managed to trick me with his words... with palin.. it would be more like.. god, how could I have been so stupid...
Bottom line is though.. my hypothetical could become reality.. and you see it.. that's why you and fogduck get so bumbhurt when the reality of the right wing scenario is put out there in terms simple enough for you to understand.
Let's take a quick peek of the wonderful actions of the right...
JAmes von brumm , registered republican, walks into a holocaust memorial and shoots innocent civilians
Scott roeder, registered republican, kills late term abortion doctor george tiller
Timmothy McVeigh, registered republican, blows the @#$! out of a building filled with innocent people..
I mean, the list goes on and on and on.. I am surprised that the republican party hasn't been listed as a terrorist organization.. at the very least you tie your horse to the same post as murderers and terrorists.. this is in line with the types of responses that come from you righties.. you know, the degeneration into instant personal attacks, the poorly thought out sore loser type criticisms of obama.. the complete and utter inability to control your emotions when it comes to your political leanings..
The right is simply a demented place to hang out.
lol, and we're so much better.. jesus.. perhaps you should get checked for some of that alzheimers there fogduck.. forgetting about thisI have yet to see a Communist country which didn't suppress free speech, and jail or murder those who wrote or spoke against Communism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McCarthyism
The way I read mccarthyism.. we locked up commies without proper evidence because they were speaking out freely (in most cases not even freely)against democracy? Forgive me if I fail to see where a distinction should be made.
mccarthy was a dirty republican too.. why does this crap always come from the right? fascists I tell you.

Gee ... I'm sorry I missed this til now.
Boosted, your post is .... to invent a term, "music to my eyes" and demonstrates exactly what I mean about how Sarah Palin causes liberal's heads to explode while they are cork-screwing themselves through the ceiling. It is the type of post that causes me to laugh myself silly with delight.
If we follow your logic, registered Democrat Harry S,. Truman "murdered" countless hundreds of thousands of poor members of the Japanese Imperial Forces and who knows how many bystanders with a tiny little device called an atomic weapon. After all, WW2 was another conflict that most Dems didn't feel was worth getting involved in too wasn't it? Registered Democrats Charlie and Martin Sheen always have well considered views on the topic from their prodigious brains which will most certainly end up in the Smithsonian in glass jars for future generations to admire, and wonder aloud how such intellect could be enclosed in the skulls of only two people.
How about registered Democrat John F. Kennedy, starting a little conflict popularly known as the Viet Nam War ... how many people did he kill Boosted?
He actually had a hand in the killing of Japanese in WW2 as a PT Boat Captain....what blood-thirsty folks the Dems are! Now there's a guy with a heart seething with malice toward his fellow man.
Then you've got the likes of the screaming harpy, Hillary Clinton. Seen here demonstrating how ready she was for the Democratic Party's nomination to be President .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJxmpTMGhU0
My list of examples could carry on for quite some time, but I'm in the process of actually working, so must limit myself for now.
Boosted ... I think you'd best check yourself into a medical diagnostic centre to determine if your arrested social development is the result of still forming Frontal Lobes due to your tender age. If that is the case, given sufficient time, there is still hope for you to interact appropriately with those around you. However, if you suffer a genetic fault causing your stunted development, you may take some small comfort in knowing researchers are working on perfecting gene splicing techniques, which may perhaps someday cure your affliction of near rabid liberalism.
In the meantime, I fear you may end up like a good dog gone bad ... "Old Yeller" as Rabies took over his personality, and he got locked in the corn crib.... as parodied here by "The Kids In The Hall." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Bmkdaqrg-8

TOF.... I guess we're down to brothers. My brother can beat your brother.

I have, as yet, to meet anyone who uses abortion as a form of birth control. I don't think that is a fair statement. Perhaps it happens, but the fact is that there are a large variety of reasons that one gets an abortion. If you read Freakanomics I am sure you would be very upset with the correlation between access to abortion and the fall of crime rates. But I digress...abortion as a form of birth control
Those aren't dimples Rockie... I would be more inclined to call them amples. And you're blinded by right wing ideology and a cute set of dimples.

... as long as you are aware that her book contains a lot of factual errors that even she has admitted. I will give you the fact that she has a certain charm and to wind up where she is in life, she can't be dumb. Perhaps not the most informed person on international affairs, but I wouldn't say she is dumb.I missed her book signing by one day
I can never quite grasp the conservative need to use the mans middle name like there is some point to it. He was named a long time before a certain Saudi decided to become a terrorist... trained and funded by the CIA no less. It is like the name Adolf... quite popular before one Adolf in particular decided to be the penultimate ass of the world. Is it the man's fault his parents were not clairvoyant enough to divine that his future would hold a namesake that would cause a great deal of suffering and death? It is a weak argument unbecoming of your intellect and the strength of most of your arguments.you mean just like Barrack Hussein Obama?
Just trying to get a mental image of that one... not good. The Regan factor ups her intelligence, but seriously lowers the pretty factor.Palin is the second coming of Reagan, Christ and Marilyn Monroe put together
I'm going to knock this up a notch with my spice weasle. Bam!

Mach, we'll need to keep looking for people to act as our stand-ins in conflict because my brother is a little underweight, and somewhat wimpy.... so he's not someone I'd want to be championing my cause in physical conflict. Maybe you could come up with another suggestion.
I don't think using "Barking Barrack The Wonder Dog's" middle name is all that unusual ... there is a long history of it being common practice. John Fitzgerald Kennedy for example.
If I were to call Obama some of the names the well-balanced spokespersons for the left, there would be an uproar like Hillary's outburst of feigned indignation. Something like "Obama's a chimp" would have me labeled as a white power advocate, and people appealing to the moderators to not only cleanse the post by editing, but also to have me silenced by banning my IP, but it is just fine for the left to use whatever derogatory remarks they wish to .... because their side carries the ring of truth doesn't it? I forgot.....

Well, I am betting we can rule out Aunts and Uncles. Onto the cousins then, or shall we nominate AvCanadians to do our battle for us? Oh!! I know, celebrity smack down.
Honestly, the most trying challenge for me these days (politically speaking) is finding someone I can feel good about supporting in politics. I don't find my voice represented by either side of the spectrum anymore. The politics of name calling and negative campaigning has turned me off. When I vote, I want to vote for a leader with a vision of where the country should be going. I think this brand of negative politics, while effective in some areas, is turning the masses off of democracy in general. Both the Liberal and Conservative parties in Canada and the United States are guilty of driving voters away because no one wants to lead anymore. It is all about power and naught about public service and making the world a better place.

Mach:
I agree with your description of the state of the Ship of State, but has it ever been thus?
I picked up on your points somewhere around 1971 when I realized the populace weren't voting for anyone, they were always voting against somebody ... exemplified by voters comments like, "I'll vote NDP, things can't get much worse."
There hasn't really been much change over the almost 40 years that I've followed politics, either out of interest, or because it was an aspect of one of my jobs to be aware of the goings-on.
Well, my cousins might be OK, a couple of them could be contenders for the Arm Wrestling Championships at Petaluma, California. Perhaps we are making a mistake by limiting ourselves to family members ... might I propose something which has withstood the test of time ... a good old fashioned joust?
I could go for something like this ... where we sit up in the Royalty Seats accompanied by our fair maidens, and our armour-plated champions, riding noble steads have it out in a chivalrous manner before our eyes.
The question of "who can beat who" could then forever more be laid to rest.

I was trying to find a clip of this, but it is not out there. So, I shall have to quote A. Whitney Brown from the “Big Picture” from memory:
There was a time when you voted for the man you liked the most.
Then, as time went on, you voted for the man you disliked the least.
Now, you vote against the man you dislike the most.
A very apt observation.
Sounds good, but I get to pick the music… 3:10 seconds in should do nicely.

Showing once again that the right cannot make an apt extrapolation. I am thanking the right for palin.. I love her.. she is going to guarantee that my ideology prevails over your for the term of her involvement in right wing politics. I hope palin discovers the fountain of youth and stays with the republicans (or at least as a clingon) for the rest of the term of that party (which I see is limited as it is split between extreme extremists and moderate extremists)Gee ... I'm sorry I missed this til now.

Actually, that is not following my logic in the least. So far as I know.. war had not been declared against the state building in oklahoma city.. nor did I hear a declaration of war against the holocaust memorial centre.. and I have yet to hear congress declare war on late term abortion doctors. So.. unless we use your logic, this statement has nothing to do with anything I have put out there. If we follow your logic, registered Democrat Harry S,. Truman "murdered" countless hundreds of thousands of poor members of the Japanese Imperial Forces and who knows how many bystanders with a tiny little device called an atomic weapon. Odd though.. that you would criticize the democrats for a decisive end to a worldwide conflict.. I guess that's what a war takes though.. a democrat to finish the job up properly.... I can see that history is repeating itself once again as democrats are left to clean up the mess of the nation. I'm not sure what you are attempting to pull off with these 'criticisms' needless to say.. it is not working.
Oh I get it, what you are really saying is that we should have just kept firebombing the japs.. letem burn right?
Have charlie and martin sheen killed anyone based on their beliefs? Don't think so.. your hyperbole is no match for my facts. And that is the exact difference.. when we have a problem we make ourselves look like assholes.. when righties have a problem they simply shoot people until they get their way.
Was this when you were skulking around on your belly subverting our freedoms of speech? Knowing you, you probably pulled for that war whole hog.. god knows we understand you can't handle the thought of another nation adopting communism... at any rate, all of your examples are faulty parallels... I will stipulate that the top of both parties is laughable.. but what about all of your constituents losing their fucking shit and resorting to sackless violence when they do not get their own way? I suppose that islam does not have a monopoly on spineless martyrs.. Really, sounds like you have more in common with mao than I do..How about registered Democrat John F. Hello Folks:
I regularly post to a Canadian Aviation Forum, in the "Miscellaneous Section" where politics are discussed.
I am a strong conservative, and high pro-American, with American cousins and follow US politics closely. I really enjoy mixing it up with left-wingers and aspiring socialists. Generally, I have no problem making them look like fools.
This post though, has me a little taken aback as to how to answer it, so I'm appealing to the collective minds of the forum for help in constructing a reply in the next 24 to 36 hours.
Regards, and thanks a million in advance for your assistance and taking the time to write something down.

Here is a copy and paste of the jerk's post ... cleaned up slightly for removing the F Bomb, etc .... it opens with a quote taken from my post, to which he responds ...
Quote:Simple Boosted ... that's all the quality of your post warranted for a response.
Simply put, if Palin is a moron, your side must surely be comprised of imbeciles. unquote
I don't think you will find a lot of people on the left that are dumber on paper than sarah palin.. though, you find them on the right.. you must have to because you would have to be two shades shy of retarded to be using palin as a benchmark of scholastic development...
you have to be an extra idiot to be manipulated by the flagship model... at least if I get duped by obama I can say, that smart lawyer managed to trick me with his words... with palin.. it would be more like.. god, how could I have been so stupid...
Bottom line is though.. my hypothetical could become reality.. and you see it.. that's why you get so hurt when the reality of the right wing scenario is put out there in terms simple enough for you to understand.
Let's take a quick peek of the wonderful actions of the right...
JAmes von brumm , registered republican, walks into a holocaust memorial and shoots innocent civilians
Scott roeder, registered republican, kills late term abortion doctor george tiller
Timmothy McVeigh, registered republican, blows the fuc* out of a building filled with innocent people..

O goodie,
Another crack-pot from the far reaches of the Right. WELCOME! You'll fit in just fine here with OFD who is funny, Mcrit who is not, Siddely Hawker who's neutral, Dust Devil the footballer, and the rest of the entitled white boys of privilege (self-made of course!

I was wondering, next week seems to be open for me, can you give me a head's-up on something to be scared of? What colour is the terror index at these days anyway, do we still have that? I'd hate to waste an entire week feeling good about things. We haven't failed to demonize someone for so long now, circa 2000ish? I'm not sure I could handle breaking the chain!

Re: Another quality FoxNews moment
OK, I'm officially never posting in this thread again. I might lurk it up a bit though.
A Conservative trying to convert a Socialist is like a Muslim trying to convert a Jew. (And vice versa.)
Ain't gonna happen, so it's a waste of time.
That being said, I will post a link to the Communist Manifesto for those here who have not read it.
http://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/wo ... manifesto/
I find it amazing that when Conservatives bash the Socialists/Communists that they never quote the Manifesto. It's right there to pick apart, but they never do it to counter its position. Maybe they've never read it? I don't know. It takes an afternoon and a 6-pack to get through it.
Good luck to both sides going at it here. If anyone switches sides, pm me with your thoughts. It would be really interesting!
In solidarity,

Actually, I think it is pretty hilarious when people hash out one-dimensional politics. My sig says it all...

Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?
