What are competitive times for pilot applicants now?
How long is time to Captaincy? Are you guys still hiring Direct Entry Captains?
I'm not in Ops anymore so don't get to hear the scuttlebut on pilot hiring, but believe they still do hire direct entry. I've seen alot of new faces while out on the ramp..just wonder if I'll see familiar faces flying the Q but in a different color scheme.
To quote COMETer: lots of IFR flying, only problem is well its not turbine.

No turbine time, which means pistons. LArgest piston freight job in Canada that I can think of is a DC4 (maybe DC6, if you go international). So Sky is going to give a DEC on a Q 400 to a guy who's likely only flown navajos up until now? Or, if he's got 'big' plane time, it's likely not in high-density airspace...Don't think so.

That all being said, i think that we are being trolled quite well here..

I was talking about Porter in the case of DEC. A friend of mine had flown B1900's with KnightHawk Air Express, and was FO with Zoom, so he was a direct entry...I don't know the backgrounds of others that have been hired as direct entry.
