I've quit my job 5 different times in my career and each time had a new job within a week making more money. Only once did I actually have a new job lined up before I quit.

I've also never worked directly for an airline either and my future employers used to tell me that was a good thing.

What can I say?

...the owner of Atlantic Avionics is a former CHC AME, Pacific Avionics & Instruments General Manager, and now owns and runs his own company. How much do you think he pays himself?

he started just like everyone else in the industry...

And for $36/hr in Lotusland! I was doing A/B checks there for a buck less an hour, ten years ago... and even then it wasn't good enough....

Unreal what this industry is degrading to. Race to the bottom.

Still though $36/hr is an insult.

I had to fix gas pumps at $18/HR for a few months until I could find a suitable gig back in aviation.

25 bucks an hour in alberta for the same job would be laughed, not that any company would be stupid enough to try. Only aviation companies are.

In oil and gas, a safety guy starts in the 70's + vehicle and other benefits. Once you start consulting, I was told its 150G+ easily.

What I'm pointing out is that HD mechs don't all make over $40/hr and have great perks.

80K isn't enough for a good bench guy though

I still contend a good bench guy is worth more than 80K a year.

The final place, Atlantic Avionics were not hiring but during my discussions they mentioned that they were also paying around $24/hr.
