Apparently by now everyone that interviewed in late 2017 should have either received a phone call with an offer for a course date or an email telling them that they were dropped from the pool. If you haven't received either one, get in touch with your internal reference at Sunwing and have them contact the CP office on your behalf as your file may have somehow been lost in the shuffle and the CP wants to make sure there have been no oversights.JetA Burner wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 8:48 pm No word on what they're doing with those of us that were pooled from December 2017 interviews? I hear some reference checks have been completed for some.
I suppose 10 July will be the tell all, if 23 July is the start date. Fingers crossed. The silence is killing us!

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Did apply for the first time about 1 month ago when there was a posting.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Why cadets when there are experienced pilots. Is it a ploy for the management at Sunwing to have long-term career FOs for whom it will take a long term to upgrade or be marketable elsewhere? Or are they made to sign significantly expensive bonds with the promise of flying a 737?something_generic wrote: ↑Tue Jul 10, 2018 8:20 am Info from a reliable source: 70 to 80 Pilots to be hired from Jul 2018 to Mar 2019. First GS planned Jul 23.
Plans to hire more cadets this year (over 10). Over 40 Cpt upgrades scheduled from Jul

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
A bit of both, actually. Plus it attracts more students to the Universities/ Colleges where Sunwing hires its cadets. I'm sure they pay a cut to Sunwing. It's a vicious circleQwertyflyboy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 16, 2018 5:09 pmWhy cadets when there are experienced pilots. Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
I did a quick search, and I can't see anything about First Officer hiring requirements. I've noted the upgrade requirements, just wondering what they are looking for with respect to the right seat? I've got about 1000 hours and currently on a PC12.
Thanks for the info!

Did your 'quick search' involve looking at the actual job post? lolnorthernbeaut wrote: ↑Mon Jul 23, 2018 6:20 am I did a quick search, and I can't see anything about First Officer hiring requirements. Quoted from their website: "Minimum 2000 total pilot hours". Cheers.
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
You certainly won't hear anything this time around. Once word got out about how quick the latest upgrades were the average experience of applicants went through the roof. Lots of 10-20k+ hour guys looking to come home along with captains from places like cargo jet. I have a few friends who applied with 4000ish hours and only one has been called for an interview so far.northernbeaut wrote: ↑Mon Jul 23, 2018 6:20 am I did a quick search, and I can't see anything about First Officer hiring requirements. Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
anyone got call for interview lately with the positing in July?
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Any DEC offers?
I believe last DEC hires were late 2012 or early 2013 due minimum experience requirements for upgrade.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Looks like one groundschool is starting in late August for which calls have most likely already gone out. There is an additional groundschool starting Sept 10 but no names yet, so calls might not have gone out for that one.
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Any one who had beeing interviewed last december and still waiting on a ground school date..with bo news?
Thank you
Thank you

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
So what’s the captain pay?
Pilot jobs network shows year 1 CA pay at $80/hr topping out at $125 in year 5. Top Fo pay is shown at $75/hr? Is that accurate? If so how do senior FOs make $130-150k as a previous poster said?

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
The short story:
Year 1 Capt: $103.57 currently, $107.76 in 2019
Year 2 Capt: $119.50 currently, $124.33 in 2019
Year 12 Capt: $195.02 currently, $202.90 in 2019
Note: All internal upgrades with at least 2 years of service at Sunwing start at the Year 2 Captain salary
Year 1 F/O: $55.53 currently, $58.08 in 2019
Year 2 F/O: $69.62 currently, $72.43 in 2019.
Year 10 F/O: $99.14 currently, $105.21 in 2019
Minimum paid is 1000 Hours per year.
Add in a 6 month deployment, per-diems, natural block growth and a little overtime here and there, it is possible to break $100,000 in your first year at Sunwing as an F/O.
In your second year as an F/O, a 3 month deployment, per-diems, natural block growth and some overtime should get you over $100,000.
Deployments went senior this year, so most new F/O's are just getting their base salary, per-diems and what little overtime is available. Without deploying or overtime, I'd budget that gross pay for a Year 1 F/O around $60000.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
So what could a new DEC expect pay wise?
Are hours flown on GDOs paid in addition to your monthly guarantee?
Is there much opportunity for GDO flying?
Are DECs likely to be forced on European assignments? That'd be hard to do with school age kids unless it was July and August only.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Most of the answers are in my post above
Year 1 Capt: $103.57 currently, $107.76 in 2019. That's $103,570 per year + per-diems.
Yes, at 2 times your hourly rate.Joe Blow Schmo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 01, 2018 10:46 pm Are hours flown on GDOs paid in addition to your monthly guarantee?
Not much for junior Capt's or F/O's.
Deployments went senior this year. It's been a few years since anyone has been forced to go overseas.Joe Blow Schmo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 01, 2018 10:46 pm Are DECs likely to be forced on European assignments?
