For a person who hates Trudeau, you sure spend a lot of time defending the most corrupt leader the country has every seen.

I really don't care who we hand the keys to the country to right now, just as long as we take them away from the current government. In 4 - 5 years, the Liberals will have elected new leadership and may deserve another shot at the grand prize but right now, this particular person is destructive to our entire nation. Anyone who doesn't see that JT needs to go has not actually looked at any of his policies or his scandals.

Abortion, gay marriage, conversion therapy... let people live their own lives and make their own choices

Same goes on the other side, political correctness, social justice, far left moral imposition, taking legally purchased guns from regular people and more criminals... fock off.

There is no place for that in government.

What they really need to be doing is going to bat for the economy and Canadian jobs, going to bat against crime, improving our military procurement, developing effective foreign policy, producing a robust healthcare system.

As I write that, I see that what they should be doing is exactly the things that this government has NOT done.

Conservatives need to kick the quacks or reign them under control in so far that it's clear to everyone that that social conservatism is for your home, your church, your personal belief, but not government. We are a free country and people need to make their own choices and have their own consequences.

Do that and they will need a bigger tent. Red Tories from the centre will move in en mass.
Completely agree. Fiscal conservative and social liberal with no one representing me.

When did I say I want him as the liberal leader? When did I say I'm ok with his scandals and basically telling the legal system to ignore corruption because "quebec jobs" ?

I think he's really dangerous but since we're in a democracy misinformation is even more dangerous. People felt the same way about the Ontario liberals and that ended up getting us a baboon with no platform, no budget.

We got a taste of this in the 90's and MILLIONS of people are still living with the effects. The OPC's "saved" billions by causing us issues that we will pay 50x more to deal with. (Traffic, crime, healthcare) Things are bad, but can always get worse. Especially if we ignore reality.

Absolutely. To an extent. There is a place and time for government to become involved in big ticket events. But it's far less than they do.

I was disappointed to see them horrible labelling of Maxime Bernier by the mainstream media. Very inaccurate and libelous. In fact he was probably the most articulate and intelligent of the leaders in the last election.

I disagree on some of his policies, I agree with others, and the way they painted him was repulsive.

This is somewhat encouraging, of course nothing concrete yet.
https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/air-c ... 08384.html
Air Canada’s (AC.TO) chief executive said he is “very encouraged” by ongoing discussions with the federal government over airline-specific financial support, as the company posted financial results for “the bleakest year in the history of commercial aviation.”

Is your reading comprehension this bad? Half those countries are in the EU/Euro zone which I already mentioned. And except for Poland all are a lot smaller than us, and more centralized. The phizer stuff needs to be kept at insanely low temperatures and it's easier to do that when your country has less people than 1 Toronto suburb.

Maxime Bernier? Really? The same guy who couldn't keep it in his pants with biker molls, and left important documents over at their place. Sure, trust that guy with the country. In this part of the country, he is not generally respected, and he has, himself, said some very questionable things. Maybe that bit never made it out of Québec, I don't know.

Max Bernier-talk about thread drift, but whatever. Down my way his party(PPC) had unelectable, obscure, fringe candidates that never got a look in. Something tells me that was the same theme right across the entire country, even Bernier’s own lot gave him the boot 🥾. Nuff said.

Agreed. There’s always numb skulls in the political arena, goes way back from what I can remember starting from the Pearson years - was then , is now and always will be.

The Globe and Mail is not identifying the sources because they were not authorized to discuss the negotiations.
Not really a good sign :(

How so? I could be totally missing something here.. arent deals like this made in the back room then the details come out later once finalized ? Again, I could be missing something ...

I hope it goes through ... I don’t know how much longer this can go on for..

Usually information leaks when one party is unhappy with how the talks are going, often in an attempt to put pressure on the other side.

It could be the government trying to prepare for a failure and blaming the airlines because "hey as published in the news, we were talking!", or it could be the airlines trying to get more money, as a failure would now generate more interest as well.

Secret leaks are seldom good.

Or maybe I'm just a cynic.

Incompetence is our government’s strength. Especially when it comes to the public purse. How is it even possible we’re still waiting for these buffoons to wake up and do what needs to be done to help avoid a total collapse of our industry?
There are probably a few good reasons.
How about these, for starters?

But these aren’t his only incompetencies.

Guess big question for me(and a good portion of the electorate )is what “ Outhouse O’Foole” would/could do any better than the current “sunny ways, blackface, pie in the sky” dude is attempting to do. I am all ears for well reasoned answers- the peanut gallery will be ignored though. :?

Exactly. If an opposition leader can demonstrate a better and credible alternative plan to cope with a specific situation, he/she would definitely get support.

What’s the plan, Erin O’Toole? Conservative morale is low as MPs await direction, sources say - thestar.com

Trudeau doesn't have a plan, O'Toole doesn't have a plan. The government is still operating day by day and playing a losing game of catch up. I would not count on airline bailout's any time soon to shore up our battered industry. The government has put us in this position and made it quite clear you are on your own. We are a year into this thing and if you are still hoping for the Federal government to come riding in on a white horse you are just wasting your own time. If you are unemployed I truly am sorry for your loss but the reality is our industry has a steep hill to climb and I wager many jobs will not be coming back. We all like to laugh and joke about truck driving schools but If I end up with a pink slip in the future that's where I'm headed. I hope I'm wrong but I fear I am not, take care of yourselves.

You liberal hacks are something else.

O’Toole was in the military, and is a lawyer.

Trudeau is a drama teacher.

You’re quoting the Toronto Star while the Financial Post flat out called Trudeau a despot.

If you’re not in the airline industry, I suggest you stay in the kiddie box, aka General Aviation. Debate about how to handle a 5kt crosswind.
