40 every 3 weeks is the rough target I've heard, but even then might have to go every couple weeks or up the course size if they want to get all 900, I bet they come up a couple hundred short on that though.

Must have picked it up in the new year, leading up to Christmas courses were small. Even 40 every 3 weeks won't come close to the 937 number, and that's if HR can fill that many spots. It seems to me, the PFO rate is at an all time high, and pretty sure Jazz can't sustain that kind of attrition. Maybe TS pilots are going to fill the gap?

Minimal sim training ongoing during the couple weeks at Christmas. Small December course size reflects that more than anything I think.

If true, you could also take that as HR taking more risks on who they invite to interview. Casting a wider net should result in more PFOs.

Yeah maybe, or maybe AC HR has no idea what they're doing. My guess is this time next year we'll be talking about how there's 1500 unfilled spots.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they are running the flight department a little lean due to the Max fiasco and potential risks of a downturn economy, that everyone keeps predicting but never seems to happen, thankfully.

C'est la vie.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thats a huge size for g/s. Any idea if the Mar 9th and 23rd g/s are going to be similar in size?

This feels like a prank or something.

Wasn’t AC looking at minimizing their wide body growth rather than expanding it? ‘87 to replace the ‘67 and no expansion on the 777....??

I’ll wait to see some other kind of news about this, outside of AvCanada, before I believe it.

My guess is CR is grinding hard at Boeing to get some deals on more 787s because of the Max fiasco. I'm sure if they really wanted to, they could expand into a few more markets with more widebodies like Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Egypt or SA.

I've also heard a rumor which sounds a bit too good to be true that AC is in negotiation with Airbus to have them take all our Max aircraft off our hands in exchange for a big A350 and A320XLR order. That would be something...

The 15 AT planes are going to hit the fleet pretty fast. Honestly we can barely crew the planes we already have. If they just nix'd the 737's and with the addition of the AT planes, the 330's and NEOs we'd barely be able to crew all of that as well. By the time we catch up it could be 5 years from now anyways.

And hasn't Airbus bumped people to the front in the past if they put in a big WB order? I might be wrong but I could have sworn they did that once or twice.

Airbus reported today that the 320NEO line is sold out through 2025.

Not sure about 321XLR.

The A220 purchase makes the person responsible look like a genius. However, the last minute change to the MAX over the NEO looks less flattering.

Time to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Unfortunately, turns out Alaska is only interested in MAX9 so a tail swap for the former VX NEO’s looks unlikely.

This coupled with Jazz having nobody to upgrade in their last bid. My guess is a all stop on hiring around the corner.

Doubt it.

Jazz will now start pillaging all the 704 Captains who didn't want to take a $50,000 pay cut. They will have zero issues filling those DEC seats, and in reality it might actually be better for them since someone coming DEC most likely isn't trying to get to AC as fast as possible.
