I suppose there are a few different possibilities. For instance ...

Create a separate user account that is your real name, for use solely (if you want) in the Known User Subforum. This would allow participants to remain anonymous in the other forums.

Reveal your true identity to users of the Known User Subforum in an "introduce yourself here" thread stickied at the top. Entry to the forum only allowed once approved by the moderators of Subforum.

Other ideas?

That's what a few people did, as I recall.

Maybe just keep your nick name and join the known user forum. Except in the known user forum there can be a "name" sticky, that you must introduce yourself in to be part of the forum.

Of course if you have made evil posts in the normal forums I suppose you won't want to introduce yourself... So I guess those people would stay away... I suppose you could always go create a new account... But that's where the minimum post count rule would be useful...

Those are my thoughts anyway. I never liked seeing my real name sticking out when I was the last to make a post.

I don't think post count or time as a member should make a difference. People who don't currently post may wish to join and post in a known user forum. As long as there is a system of mod approval for entry, whereby your identity is confirmed somehow, and the mod has control over removing permission to post to the forum due to complaints, etc., there should be no problems.

Permitting this also allows a user to create a different account to be used exclusively in the known user forum, so their "regular" username can remain "anonymous".

Wow I thought this was going to die.

I was thinking along Widows thoughts

Create a new user name, first only

Have absolutely no link to your other username if you wish (istp).

Mod controlled, anybody can join but you have to prove who you are, ie license

Now for post count it won't be close to high but look at the count of some of the other Forums, some have next to nothing in there

This would be a place to go if you have a question you want a serious answer to. I have an SMS question but I don't want a stupid answer questioning my intelligence, so I don't ask.

Look and some of the other forums and you actually get good responses, bush, helicopter. The bush forum right now seems to have some of the best responses I have ever read, Why? Because the idiots don't post there. This hopefully would be the same thing,

Stephen
