They also advised that negative interest rates were not an option they wanted to rush into but were an option that would only be used in extenuating circumstances, I.e to restart a completely stalled economy (for instance if the so called housing bubble popped which would basically be the straw that breaks Canada's economic back).

Today has been a very interesting day, reflected in AC's stock. China devaluing its currency today is not good for a commodity based country like Canada.

Remember folks, if you're your own boss, you can't get fired or laid off!

Sure you can: your customer(s) can fire you. It's just called going out of business, or going bankrupt. Or both.

That's all dependent on your business, but yes, the only one who you can blame is yourself. Which is why I prefer it than being at the mercy of the pink slip.

personally, I think it's time to have cash to invest when everything goes sideways.
