Re: Implicit bias
Here's what annoys me:
Every TV ad is the same. A Black man, an Asian woman, ect ect. Yeah, we get it. You "care"
Then, there is systematic racism documented, where it really matters: (Note, US data)
Home appraisals. Credit availability. Tax assessments by neighbourhood.
Central banks policies exploding the value of housing, but minorities can't get credit. Equally.

Re: Implicit bias
You may be surprised to find it's not Whitey doing the systemic racism, particularly in finance. It happens, I'll concede that, but it's not who most think it is. Go back to the slave trade...who was earning tremendous amounts of money for boatloads of slaves? You might be surprised.rookiepilot wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 5:19 pm Then, there is systematic racism documented, where it really matters: (Note, US data)

Same slavery, same master, except the boat is now a check cashing and payday loan store "offering" 30% interest and tonnes of late charges.
See, every bleeding heart cries about equality and how unfair everything is, but the overwhelming majority of us didn't choose for these people to be forced to come here. Our ancestors came here with a purpose to provide for their families, prosper, and above all, be left the hell alone. This is a problem made by the 0.1% financial class, as usual. However, perspective, as usual, has been lost. Nowhere in the world is it safer for these people than in the very countries that cry about equality. Do that in Uganda or DRC and see what happens...or ask General Dallaire what real systemic racism is. Shaking Hands and whatnot.

Been to both of those countries, and fair point. Many levels. But we can always be better.ReserveTank wrote: ↑Mon May 03, 2021 4:38 pmYou may be surprised to find it's not Whitey doing the systemic racism, particularly in finance. Re: Implicit bias
This is the main point for me. If you can help someone (or group of people), why would you choose not to? A lot of the answers to that question are pretty damn racist.
