He never changes his fuel load because he'll "always get in". Just order what will get you there and don't worry 'bout the rest.

Yeah, real nice guy

The one positive thing you can say about the Giver is, if you are bleeding to death up north and the weather is zero zero, you had better hope the skipper on the Medivac machine that is coming to get you is the Giver!!

ditto to CLguy's comment. If I was lying in YTL or some other s_ithole place with an axe in my back, I would want the "giver" coming to get me, as he would literally die trying to get in. Of course I would have to live with the guilt that he took out other people trying to get me...

I had my share of runins during my late 80's tenure at JV. All time favourite gem is how to during flight(!) unsieze a jammed flap drive on a King Air. Nonchalantly(!) pull back the carpet arouind row 3, and with your trusty "giver" tool kit, which all desciples were obliged to carry, manipulate the offending drive cable with a 7/16 wrench. QRH? AME? who needs em!

The trouble with clowns like this is they really truly believe that they are God's gift to the world of aviation, and that their calling is to pollute the minds of neophytes that this is way to fly in the 21st century. If I had not stood up, and chose to be a "giver" protege, you could very well have read about me in the papers one day, having wrapped my plane around a tree or done something equally reckless.

So, what really happened at YQK? I know the truth is out there. If it's anything at all like the bits I have gleaned over the years, why is he still flying and not in jail?

Cheers

Not to justify the Giver:
That little gear trick worked well for just such a problem. King air doing the court run had a problem. Skipper kept'er flying and the F/o and the judge got 'er done. way to go "Roach" 8)

oh yeah the giver is still quite a piece of work he pushes the rules to the limit. oh yeah the only guy to devise a circling technique with a gps in IMC conditions

Point is, the axe is not stuck in anyones back and yet the nonsence continues. You can debate all you want about "getting in" when in dire need of a rescue however last I checked JV is not a medivac company, and I'm sure this is not the way most reputable Medivac companies operate anyway.

It's good to know stuff about your aircraft, but I draw the line at fixing stuff unless it's life or death, I'm sure you could land a King Air flapless and not consider it a life or death emergency.

Somehow I'd be willing to bet there are a few other "givers" out there who have come up with their own approach techniques.
