Cow Tipper,
The OP is already out... he's trying desperately to get in by the sounds of it.
Don't call a guy bitter just because he's having a hard time breaking into this very, very competitve industry... I don't know where you are on the food chain, but there are a lot of low time pilots out there looking for work...
Not everyone can live at home for free or survive on minimum wages... that makes it tough for the low and medium hour pilots to even accept a job.

Speaking of Honda's I was just talking to a guy who works at Honda and they are getting ready to announce the Civic diesel. I'm betting it will outsell the Hybird 10 to 1 and talk is the engine is to be built at a new plant to be announced this coming Friday in Aliston.
Putting money into aviation is like wiping before you poop....it just don't make sense!
When you think of starting a new career, say...selling cars...what does your gut tell you?? Now how about sticking it out for a few more months...what does your gut tell you?? This has to come from you and you alone...
In my opinion, love your job and never work a day in your life!!
I hope you find whatever it is that you need to keep the buzz going...if not, then good luck in finding a new career and congrats for trying this one...she's a tuff nut to crack, but boy are the rewards worth it!

what to do when the buzz is gone?
N2 & Co.:
One of the few things of value I remember from high school guidance class... Even though you may actually be at work for 8 or 10 (or 14!) hours each day, you really are prepping the day before. You are not out late, you try to get a good sleep, find your work boots and coveralls, get up in time, drive to and from, and so on. Once you've gone through all that effort, you may as well do something you really are passionate about. After all, you did spend almost all of your waking hours around work or work prep.
Guidance Counsellor Mr. Seney's advise was simple. Do something you enjoy.
Are there days that suck? Yes! Are there days that feel like a training session gone wrong? Yes! Have I ever gotten up in the morning and said
"S it! I have to work today!" Rarely, if ever. If I worked for a road paving crew, as a roofer, or a manual laborer I would say that almost every day. I know, because I did all that to pay for flight training. (Yes, some of those jobs pay ok, but do you really want to be doing that in your fifities?)
There will be bumps in the road: companies go under, managers that get in the way of your doing your job, economic reality, etc.
Now ask me this again after my day today. It's already humidex 40 at 1100 in YYZ! But at least I'm not doing manual labour.
Cheers
