Most people won't know if they are evasive or not, because they won't ask questions. There's still ample supply of sub 1500 hour pilots. Those people don't have a choice, they need a job, any job. They won't ask tough questions. The only defence these pilots have is to turn down unsafe work. If that could potentially cost you 20k/30k/...., then there's a really big hurdle to do so.

It's not a two way street because the balance of power is, still, heavily tilted in favour of the employer for those low time pilots. It's a 4 lane highway one way, and a dirt road in the other.

If you've never encountered these situations, and if you truly think the stuff me and other posters here are mentioning is unrealistic or a sign of entitled or dumb pilots, then again, count your blessings. But be aware that your career path is likely not an accurate representation to the average pilot's career in Canada.

I'm also intrigued that the general theme of the pro-bond side in these bond discussions can often be paraphrased as "bonds are necessary otherwise pilots will leave because they are selfish" but the idea of "let's improve the work conditions so no pilot ever wants to leave here" is never entertained.
I’ve never worked for Pasco, but I have done their interview a few years back and turned them down.

All I know is they answered all my questions. They were pretty straightforward regarding the bond, the compensation and the duty hours.

If they fooled someone else into working for them by lying or evading questions, I have not heard of it yet. That seems to be the accusation?

Someone obviously ran the numbers there and thought the bond option is the way to go…but as an employee, it’s up to you to decide and ASK QUESTIONS before signing up.

If you are an unhappy employee there, maybe follow the AC Pilots’ lead, unionize and collectively bargain or something?
So, they answered all your questions but you didn’t work for them, forgive the expression but how the hell do you know if they lied to you!

I don't know if they lied to me. If you followed the discussion, I'm not the one accusing them of that.

Maybe YOU should go back and read the discussion, no one specifically said Pasco does any of those thing, the discussion revolves around the fact if a company needs a bond, there is something else at play. You seem to be the only one who took this a directed at a company you’ve never worked for, the question is why do you feel the need to defend them.
Apparent fact, they have a bond, another fact bonds are one sided and never include verbiage that would make it null and void if they assigned duty outside of the job description or, or, or.
I don’t know if Pasco abuses their employees and neither do you but a bond a form of indentured servitude and would not be needed if they made it so people wanted to stay there!

So noone is saying Pasco is doing any of the things you just mentioned?

The discussion is about Pasco is it not? Where did I defend them? I'm simply neutral. You guys made lots of accusations but refuse to admit it.

Are the things you talked about happening there or not? It is a simple Yes or No.

Have ANY of you worked there? If yes, then please tell us the truth and just come out with it.

Nope, I thought maybe I missed something, every poster was speaking in general terms about companies that have bonds are not typically upfront about the real conditions.
In Manitoba, medevac companies with bonds have pilots on call while also resting, Transport Canada has been told about this but does nothing.
You are 1500 hours and work for a company who calls you out at 0700 for a short medevac, you get back to base and they say, ok so you’re good until 2200 or fresh at 2030. Nothing else comes in all day but you can’t sleep for another 8 hours, you’re finally tired and you go to bed at 2100, a call for a trip to shamattawa- Winnipeg comes up as your head hits the pillow, you’re now working for the next 6-8 hours over night and guess what, another trip comes in before you get back to base, off you go. You finally get back to base and fall into bed, 8 1/2 hours later, the next call comes in.
You’re bonded, so you can’t just quit, you complain but it falls on deaf ears and nothing changes, this is a real thing and has been going on for well over 30 years, I know because I’ve experienced it! Thankfully when they tried to get me to sign a bond I said no and they hired me anyway, so I felt no pressure to go when tired, I also started telling them when I was fresh, I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in when I was ready, probably why I was laid off when they still needed pilots, hmm, no that can’t be it.
Bonds are one sided and don’t favour the employees, which is what many posters here have said, I have not seen anyone in this thread specifically say Pasco does any of these things, just that they could if you sign their bond.

The resets you’re talking about don’t exist anymore. Even in Manitoba .

yes, you missed the title of the thread. if you are speaking in general, either Pasco is included or not.

but it really looks like you are very specifically talking about a medevac operator in Manitoba. this is the opposite of "speaking in general terms".

Would you like to name some names to help out the folks?

Hey, recently talked to an ex Pasco(recent) pilot, he said it’s actually a great company and other than not having a union for some situations, most pilots are treated well. They don’t push you to do things or violate the CARs regs, etc.
However, the pay is lacking but you know what that is before signing the bond, so if you accept the pay and the bond, you only have yourself to blame.
