Hey Doc, why don't you tell that to all the other immigrants in Canada????Doc wrote: Quebec has it's rules. If you don't agree with them, simple, don't live in Quebec. Lots of jobs out there in English speaking Canada without the pain in the ass factor of living in Quebec.
If you don't like the way Quebec does it, move(to ontario), those idiots(other non quebec canadians) give up all their rights, they no longer celebrate christmas, don't have a christmas tree.... Lol what a joke...
Wonderful double standard, seperate culture in quebec get preserved the rest of canada's culture thrown in the trash...

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't New Brunswick the only officially bilingual province? You missed my point re "goose/gander" - my only grudge is that in an apparently bi-lingual country - most things in Quebec are exempt, in fact I believe it's even ILLEGAL for a legitimate store owner to post his name/advertizing in english on the storefront! Once again - how does that fit into a bi-lingual society......and don't give me the crap about being their own 'culture".....imagine the demands if every culture in Canada demanded the same.

Maybe speaking french and english fluently will give you a little better chance at your Air Canada interview, but otherwise I really dont think you need french at all to succeed in canadian avaition outside of Quebec. And why would you want to work as a pilot in Quebec anyways? The pay in most companies is substantialy lower than anywhere else in Canada and the taxes are higher. From what I've heard I could be making at least 4-5K per year more if I moved to Ontario, and even more than that in Alberta.
Most Quebec born pilots here can get by in english, but they aren't quite fluent. They can't really expect to get hired by west jet or even most third or second level companies out west so they're kinda stuck here even if they have the hours/experience to move on. To top it all off, add in the european frenchies coming here for the cheap flight trainning who are more than happy to work for free or pay for their ppc's, and the so called pilot shortage is a cruel joke. Anyways, if you have a choice between working in Quebec and elsewhere in Canada, for your own sake stay out of Quebec, the only thing we've got going for us here are the women...
