Whatever the greasy spoon is in Sudbury, it was good enought to fill my stomach on our way from Greenwood to Winnipeg.

Best Club House sandwich anywhere.
I've been doing a study.
Best clubhouse I've ever had was at the Eskimo Inn in Inuvik.

Flying Beaver was good beer, can't say I ever ate there though

The kind of place where people just drop in with there airplanes.

Now THAT is the epitome of a pig!

Baack in the day, there was a place (if memory serves - someone correct me if i have the name wrong) called Braeburn, about a 35 min. PA 12 flight north of Whitehorse. The strip was a wide spot on the road and the diner served a club house sandwich for about 3.50 that literally over filled a huge platter! Ah, those were the days :)

Anyone else ever eat at the Super Connie Cafe in Toronto before they shut it down? Food was just OK but eating inside the Constellation was very cool.

So since YVR and YYJ have been mostly covered, I'll just add the McDonalds by the south terminal at YVR. Cool airplane motif, the food, well, what else can I say, it's McDonalds.

In Calgary, there's a themed restaurant/bar in a hotel at the field's south end... can't remember its name though. Duh.

Same in Yellowknife... cool place using an airplane wing as the bar top. Can't remember the name.

I blame the MEK on my bad memory!!!

I heard you can get a fantastic bowl of borscht at the Nelson, B.C. (CZNL)
airport cafe.

Five years ago, the CAVU Cafe at Boeing Field, Seattle WA (KBFI)
had good chow and a great view of the airport.

The 4th Fighter Group Restaurant at the Orlando-Executive airport, FL (KORL) had great service, pleasant ambiance and fine food, big-band music, and headphones allowing you to listen to the tower. I said HAD,
because I found out it burnt down and was rebuilt to cater to a non-aviation clientele.

There is one at the top of Calgary Flight South East Corner of the field, I can't remember the name. Haven't eaten there.

The Flying N at the Claresholm airport, in southern Alberta, was a great fly in restaurant for "real" home cookin. Bunch of Gramma's were the
cooks. Sunday supper was like a Christmas feast. Sadly Jean Hoar (owner) retired.

The little diner off runway 28 in Goderich is pretty good. Spitfire Cafe's the name if I'm not mistaken.

Ok, I'll say it. The Lakeview, YRL. Pretty good hamburger, and lots of nice pics and paintings.

The Regina Flying Club clubhouse in YQR has a great smorg on Fridays. Good food and reasonable prices.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

I second the lakeview, and add.....

Jill's Galley at the Shawnigan Lake marina (seaplane base) on Vancouver Island. Try the seafood chowder.

The restaurant on top of the Montreal Flying Club is really good too.

Vancouver Island and Montreal are the two places that always amaze me with excellent food.

The Flying Beaver all the way and I like to add the Airport cafe at the Qualicum Beach Airport to the list too

Dakota Cafe in Victoria has great 'specials' and awesome tea.

I enjoy the wraps and french fries at Tofino Airport golf course.

If you can get a car and drive a few minutes the Jammery in Kelowna is awesome.

What is smorg (regina airport)?

Have to also add this one. The airport cafeteria/restaurant at Medicine Hat (CYXH) Airport has really good home cooked food. Inexpensive and good portions. Recommendations are breakfast, cabbage rolls, and there hot & sour soup.

No cafe here in Nelson (at least not at the airport), but the Borscht at Castlegar must be what you're thinking of- excellent.

Gotta second the opinion of the Medicine Hat Cafeteria- the breakfast special was enough to choke a horse last time I was there.

And the Seafood Chowder at Mary's Blue Moon Cafe in YYJ is indeed legendary.

The Place de Liesse on the Cote de Liesse service road in Montreal. Food's no screaming hell, but the dancing nekkid wimmen more than make up for it. :D

There's a chain of "Squadron" restaurants through the US northeast, like the Bomber Squadron in Cleveland and the Fighter Squadron in Columbus, Ohio, and the Transport Squadron in Newcastle, Delaware. Pretty good steakhouses. They have a WW2 motif, with all kinds of airplane memorabila.

Next time anyone's in YYJ, pop into Sidney and try Ralph's Cafe on Beacon (next to the Subway nearest the highway). The owner, Ralph, is a retired KLM 747 Captain and the place is full of models and memorabilia from his flying days. There's flying mags to be read while eating and he makes a killer roast beef sandwich! :smt023

Although not aviation themed, Starke's Deli on the north end of the airport in the industrial area (next to NAPA auto parts) makes amazing sandwiches (try the Bavarian Meatloaf!). They're only open around lunchtime Mon-Fri (and it's cash-only) but the sandwiches are huge, fresh and cheap! Mmm, I'm going there tomorrow. Image

There is a little pizza place down the road from the airport in Sechelt, BC, it's a 10 - 15 min walk or a 2 min drive. It's called Pepper Creek Pizza and they serve slices from 12 until 3:30, I swear it's worth the stop just for the pizza.

The restaurant at Qualicum Beach out west is nice - beautiful flight from the mainland or Victoria.
Had a good sandwich and coffee at the tanker base at Puntzi Lake once waiting for a passenger.
I'll second (third?) Jetz at YYC - it was like a high school reunion last time I was there - ran into pilots I know from three different provinces, although the cigarette smoke is a little gross.
On the bagrun and sked in Alberta - Northwest Hotel in Slave Lake, Lakeland in Grande Prairie and the (in)famous Camel's Toe at Cold Lake - the 'breakfast ninja' brought food in under three minutes!
