Al Gore flys with Porter

If any of you did any studying on the usage of electricity in his house. You would find that he pays for aprox. 16500 kWhs of electricity from Renewable sources each month. The renewable sources he gets this electricity from are Solar and Wind farms.
As previously mention he is also putting a wind turbine and some solar panels on his house, as we speak the work is being done.
So does it matter if he uses more, I don't think so because it is all produced with ZERO emissions. If everyone did what he was doing we wouldn't be in the huge problem we are in.

What % of his electrical power can he produce in tennessee in the winter using solar and wind?" The renewable sources he gets this electricity from are Solar and Wind farms."
Even if he sat in the dark it would be unlikely he would be able to generate 50% of the power he uses, so he is still using 10 times the average home owner.

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

They pay the electricity company extra money to get there power from wind/solar etc. Basically you pay a premium and they buy electricity from wind/solar farms and then sell it to you. So he could be getting it from outside tennessee.
Its basically like emissions trading. Only one person can have the right to that 1kWh of renewable energy, and they sell it at a premium.
So he just buys his useage at a premium to get it from renewable resources.

It's funny how the media was quick to jump on the story. They found this out and act as if nothing happened. If the man is making this much effort and is receiving his energy through natural resources, who cares? He's rich and can afford to purchase and build his own turbines and use as much electricity as he wants. He is not damaging the environment. Those who are not that fortunate who have to rely on gas and such have to conserve. That was basically all he was trying to get across.

Where do you get your info? I am sorry, but you are not making any sense at all.EI-EIO wrote:rd1331 - you can be damn sure some of the hardcore enviros care quite a bit - they care about gross footprint not net. They want him to buy all that renewable electricity and, I dunno, donate it to homeless people or something.

Did you know that there is more solar power from the sun in one day than the entire world uses in a year.
Being Environmentally friendly isn't about reducing the way you live, its about doing everything you do in an environmentally friendly way. David Suzuki didn't turn into a tree hugger living out of a hut, he took everything he did and made it environmentally friendly. He produces 1 garabage bag a month, one. Everything else he recycles.
You are right, it is about reducing your footprint. Guess what, he has, he buys his electricity from renewable zero emission power plants.

Yup, Suzuki walks the walk.....except when he has to drive.
He used a 33 seat diesel bus to haul 8 people across Canada on his last Eco religeon trip......
....but just to show his commitment to being genuine he rode a bike on the last K.M. of the 7000 K.M. trip.
Yup another Al Gore..do as we say not as we do.
