But have they fixed the runway yet? The last time I was in there there were a couple of frost heaves/dips large enough to swallow most turboprops.C-HRIS wrote:YTH aint bad at all. having said that, YTH is a vacation compared to the real shitholes out there, and none of them are on that short-sighted list.
Been in there as a passenger in the last 6 months, and no, stil has that famous frost heave that they just can't get rid of. Anyone know how many times they've tried to fix it over the years?shitdisturber wrote:But have they fixed the runway yet? Places are what you make of them. I have lived in La Loche now for two years. The people are some of the finest I have met anywhere! There are some people who will not be happy anywhere , and it seems like alot of you post on these threads. Also, alot of you post about places that you have never been to, but, you have heard bad things about and are just repeating those things on this forum. I know for a fact that one of the above posters has never been to La Loche (and has admitted so to Clearwater) but repeats the things he heard from his father who flew into here occasionally 30 yrs ago!!!! If you have nothing good to say about a place why say anything at all about it! Remember this is someone's home town. Also, if were not for these places and the people who live there, most of us wouldn't have got a start in aviation at all! So how about a little appreciation instead of backstabbing.

I guess what I am trying to say is : if you only look for the bad things in a community then that is all you will ever see. When I lived in Vancouver I went down to E Hastings St. and saw everything there( far worse than anything I have ever seen in La Loche), but you don't hear me say what a sh*thole Vancouver is. If you try to see the good things in a community then your experience will be a much happier one, and who knows, maybe you will even make some lifelong friends....... like I have!
P.S. Reading threads like this makes me realize how ungrateful most pilots are and how quickly they forget where they started.....it's very embarrassing and disappointing!

I was based in Kingston, Jamaica once. There are those towns that you guys "up North" try to call a ghetto, and then there are the real ghettos, in every sense of the word.

"Welcome to Jamaica, mon. . . . now gimme you wallet!"
