Those medevac companies use YEG only because they are Learjet runway hogs. The occasional lear 24, 35 or 36 comes into YXD, but not many, and you won't see them on hot days or poor runway condition days.

They should have made Namao the international and shared space with the military, like they do at many Air Force and Air National Guard bases in the US. It's also a lot closer to the city centre and the hospitals than YEG, and closing YXD might make more sense.

They should have tried a similar thing in Halifax too, sharing Shearwater instead of building out in the boonies with the fog. That's another rant. :wink:
