In terms of figuring out where the hell you really are, would be just as clear to say "Traffic 840 miles north of Minneapolis....", or better yet, "Traffic 1000 miles east of Calgary, Perimeter 952 is a ..."

At this point in time I've gotta say my position reports don't have to be as accurate anymore due to a reduction in traffic so I for one will not be doing reports like you've described.

I'd prefer hearing people than not. We all have had instances where the first time you hear people is after they cut you off joining the circuit because they dont know proper ATF or MF procedure.

hey, I've been known at the green machine to call 25 south of St Therese over Cantin Lake, or 15 south of Gods Narrows over Moose Lake only to get about 5 .... "where the @#$! is that?"

Yep, that almost got me toasted at YAV a month back. And tower was on duty! (Actually, I'll credit them with the save this time)...

Captain Crunch you IFR guys crack me up. Cantin lake is the big 'effing lake "25 miles south of St. Theresa"! Google earth it.
