I don't want to be anyone's lawyer here, but I honestly think wxnut lacks a great amount of respect, and then again, without wanting to judge anyone, but only by expressing my opinion, I think Mr. . (hope I spelt that right), deserves the respect he needs, but then again, at times he makes it a bit to obvious that he asks for the respect or recognition for the sole fact that he's an old flyer. I really think that respect here, is more of an issue when it comes to how diplomacy stands out in one's conversation. I've seen Cat be very diplomatic in most of his posts. Like all people, we cannot be all perfect...

RIMsky, the issue here has nothing to do with me " needing " respect from anyone with a make believe name here on Avcanada, as I am quite secure in who I am.

The issue is when a young pilot starts their career with a know it all attitude who shows contempt for those who have spent a life time in aviation will quite often pay the price for the simple fact the power to make decisions about how their career progresses is in the hands of those they hold in contempt.

I have seen a long line of wxnuts in the right seats of a lot of airplanes, if their attitude does not improve their advancement career wise suffers in direct relation to their attitude.

By the way the industry is very small and those who hire pilots soon scope out the iffy ones.

So think about the reality of this issue.....I sure as hell do not need the approval of the wxnuts on Avcanada for the simple fact that my track record is already verified.... the question is what possible good can showing disrespect for people with experience do for a pilot starting their career?

Rimsky, I just find Cat disrespectful. This could perhaps be that you don't really know what or when somebody means what when you look at a post. Sometimes jokes are taken as hating comments and flames commence. Perhaps 50% of why we have a flaming culture here at avcan.

I also think for a person with so much time under his belt, a sense of professionalism should be encouraged. I personally haven't seen much of that. Everybody have weaknesses, some don't know how to post appropriately, some need to know how to argue professionally, and others have other weaknesses. I, like yourself, like hundreds of pilots out there, have weaknesses. It's about working on those and improving right, but what motivation should I have to respect you? your attitude sure isn't one; which in contrast, most likely isn't a motivator for you to like or respect me either

Remember ., it's people like you who can make a difference in the way 'junior's' attack this industry. If you do nothing but sound bitter and down, you'll get unlucky breaks. By the way, if you were to put me in a group 5 people, you'd not be able to figure out who I am. I just get tired of hearing constant bull and non sense, and like anybody - I do have a limit and will hand in my comments. I don't care how old you are, you're not above or below the law, nor are you as a high time person.

Regarding the career, amen to the fact that I've got more than enough senior friends throughout the industry to help me out any day, many of them being executives and CP's at mainlines across the world; therefore, the words of . won't do much. And no, im not walking in here trying to show I know this and that, could be that you're taking it wrong.

A food for thought, isn't it a waste of your time to bother arguing with me? You should be trying to convince theories with people in your own league. I already have senior people who I actually like and respect who are in the game to help me out, none of which when I showed them your posts seem to remember . . as a fun and professional achieving person. I was told some stories in your good old days. I guess everybody makes mistakes once in a while. The bottom line is, I have nothing personal against you, it's generally that I don't like the way you talk, or respond. As you must have noticed, sometimes I'll be in direct acordance with your posts... have only seen that happen a few times. Would like to see it improve. Remember, what you do affects what others do, not trying to give grand pa a lesson here, but perhaps a thought. And for the record, you're no motivator - I'd like to see more high time guys motivate and encourage others than complaining about 250 hour jazz pilots and what not. To put in a response to the original post, if anyone is still reading for that purpose...

I think it's inappropriate to look to others for your route in aviation. There are as many career paths as there are pilots. Some are similar, some are quite unique. I think you have to look long and hard at what you want, what you are willing to do, and decide exactly what is right for you. Make sure that you don't miss opportunities because you're following a template that you were given by some guy flying for big red. Like the man said, you can go your own way!!

I know too many guys that just happened to be in the right place at the right. Decide what you're willing to accept, what you're not, and don't be afraid to take a chance as long as the latter is not violated.

Anywaaaayz, I think if you just want to make it to jazz and retire there its fairly straight forward in this day in age. Get your licence get some time in a King Air or similar and over 1000TT there you go. But when the shit hits the fan you and 1000 other guys are out on the street looking for work all with the same background, good luck.

Hi there everyone, I'm new to this blogging stuff but ive read alote of what everyone is saying and i think everyone should be happy to be flying at all... im 26 married with two kids. and do construction 2 yrs ago i traded some work for a flight and loved it. sense then have fallen in love with flying. Ive tried every path out there to get flying. no luck yet....

Did you try going to a flight school?

lol that was funny, I think if your just looking to get into flying to do on the weekend fun of it well then of course your going to have to head on down to the local flying club. But if $$ are a factor and you don't want to go a milllion miles away from your home base then there is Ultralight aircraft you can look into to save some bucks, also try to find a local RAA or EAA chapter.
