That's the way I look at it was well ... I fly a 75 Warrior ... for the value of the plane, putting in top of the line avionics would be overkill, and completely hurt resale even worst than normal, since the cockpit would be half the value of the planetired of the ground wrote:General rule of thumb: Kiss at least 50% of your avionics investment goodbye when you sell.
To be honest, in anything worth less than $100,000, I'd toss in a Garmin 155xl. IFR, big numbers for those pilots getting on in age and easy to use.
At the end of the day 99.9% of the reason for a GPS is so you can go direct, without an airway. Weather you have a 5" screen with fancy colours or a monochrome CDI, at the end of the day each one did the same thing. It just up to you to decide if you want to do more flying (with the left over money from the monochrome display) or stare at your expensive toy (which you shouldn't be looking at anyways because you should be looking outside (VFR) or at your HSI (IFR))
I think personally I'll stick with my original idea of a 155XL (or maybe 300XL) ... Still gets me where I need to go in the end, and yes, I'd rather spend the money on flying!
As for the GDL-69A ... That's only the XM receiver. Maybe you meant the GDL 90, which is the GPS/WASS/ADS-B unit?
