I guess you missed the part about the other carriers getting some help.
No, didn't miss that part...

You asked "When?".... as in, When did AC ever take money from the government?....so I provided the link.

Well it obviously didn't have any effect on your overall thoughts. Nothing will me thinks. Hey ya know what? You're right. I think in the near future AC will benefit from this move and I for one am very thankful. I just hope the C-series will make us some money and fit into the fleet plan nicely. If not, I will have some apologizing to do because it was strictly political. But hey, Quebec and AC will always be in the hole no matter what.

Tony,

It was just a "theory", one brought up for discussion.

In any event....
I just hope the C-series will make us some money and fit into the fleet plan nicely.

Business is business...no one can doubt that this is a somewhat of a dirty game.

l personally would like to see Canadian carriers flying more Canadian products.

l hope that Air Canada does jump on a bid to acquire the C-Series.

PS...

Kudos to Porter for jumping on the Canadian built Q-400 (one of the best prop aircraft built to date)

As you know, the company took a lot of heat for buying Embraers and if you bother to read my other posts throughout this forum, you will see that I have actually defended the company on this before by stating that it is constantly being interfered with by the government.
So what was political about that? The right airplane for the job is all I see. And maybe Jaques, just maybe that's all there is to this C-series. Just because some journalist is pushing shit in your mouth doesn't mean you have to swallow it bro. Mending political fences is a good thing and I think we are agreeing on that. But please don't tell me that that's what's going to save your job and mine. The problem, if you don't know, is not going to be solved with government rescue. Mending fences with Quebec and Ottawa is a drop in the bucket. Our leaders need to be changed. But you know that already.

Ok Tony.......I must not be making myself very clear. This will be my last post on this subject because my head is starting to hurt from banging it into the wall. Would writing in bigger letters help?
So what was political about that?
The fact that the government of Canada made such a stink about Air Canada buying an airplane ( the Embraer ) that it felt would best suit their needs, is political. They never seem to meddle in anyone elses business regarding aircraft acquisition. That is what I mean about being political. Are you starting to understand yet Tony? Almost everything Air Canada does has a politician attached to the decision. YYT-LHR as an example. Does anyone else get slandered in the media and the house of commons for pulling out of a money losing market? That is political.

"The bailout of CAIL will include Air Canada" Those words were spoken by the Prime Minister on national television. How does a Prime Minister dictate what a "private" company does unless politics are at play? Cmon Tony, even you are aware of the Air Canada Participation Act. You want to tell me there is still no politics involved in our daily business?

Now Air Canada is playing the same game and I happen to agree with it. Yes Tony, I said it before and I will say it again, I agree with it! I smiled when I first read the article and thought touche'. The C Series may or may not be the airplane, who cares, but it seems to me that the story was floated in the press in order to mend some fences, in fact, it even states that! Is there anything wrong with playing the politicians at their own game? No I don't think so and if Air Canada can extract some favorable financing as a result, great. No, you are right Tony, no politics, never has been, never will be. We may never see that airplane but floating that story, dangling that carrot for a Quebec based company, gives Air Canada a big fat political poker chip that they will attempt to use to their advantage.

If you are too thick to get that then go ahead, continue to bang your head into the wall.
But please don't tell me that that's what's going to save your job and mine.
P.S When did I ever say that this was going to save your job or mine? For Christ Sake Tony, stop putting shit in my mouth. You are worse than than the local rag for mis quoting people.
