Well I was suprised Aloha pulled out of YVR. A long time friend of mine works the cabin, being both from Vancouver originaly, and me flying Aloha on passes a few times, I saw first hand the loads... very strong! At one time they increased the freaquency to daily plus 3 flights a week to oog... I sent an email off, and got a reply from her. To operate a 737 on that route is the killer, a much higher yield (thus the higher ticket price) is required to cover the cost of the equipment (737). Simply put, the capacity and yield is there, they just needed more seats! Anything smaller then a 757, and your yield has to go up!
Westjet, good luck
no market exists for the 737 to fly over water (open ocean). You can't yield! Aloha had to do it, thats all they had, westjet will stay away, like everyone eles with their model....

"Ground 1120 at checkpoint.... 3! ahh sorry we should have got you at 1....." "1120 hold short, hold short where are you going?"
no... but that wouldn't help, Fiji does... but you have too 1300.00 to get on them... again yeilds! You need at least a 757 with even higher then normal capacity likethe charters
