Re: Buffalo Rampie!!!
Of course theres time, dont believe everything from the show, if you work hard and get your shit done then days average out to about 9 hours.iflyforpie wrote:If the schedule is anything like it was portrayed on Ice Pilots, when do you have time to look for anything better? When you are unemployed you have more time to look for work, and maybe even a bit of EI to help along.jimmy north wrote:would you rather have a job or not? you can still look while working, better then looking while unemployed.
Its not as bad as you think you know it is
Nark, you hit the nail on the head. There are jobs out there that get you flying as PIC of an aircraft from day one that pay decently and don't involve being a ramp rat or flight attendant...
Those jobs are very rare, and seasonal

Re: Buffalo Rampie!!!
jimmy north... welcome to the board. But please let me assure you that your beating your head against a brick wall in your efforts. All you did was offer an entry level job opening to someone who if they work hard, may well get a chance to fly some pretty cool airplanes. For your efforts, you and your company are being slammed. Isnt this a great profession we are a part of? Ahhhh it makes me proud to be part of the aviation community.
Everyone else.. all the guy did was offer a job opening and maybe some help in getting your resume to the top of the pile. If I was starting out, id take that position in a heartbeat. You could do FAR worse then learning from guys like Arnie and Joe. Maybe not the most polished men in the world, but I assure you they BOTH know more about airplanes then any 5 of us combined. Lighten up already.
Rant over.
Fly safe all.. and good luck to all who are applying for this position
PLUS.. the added bonus of airtime on the History Channel w00h00!!
*edit for ps*.. Nark, I have to ask.. where exactly is West of BC?...Japan? and i thought you were instructing in the States?

flyinthebug.
I'm flying in the bush in Alaska. Moved up here a number of months ago.
As I said, they're paying me way to much for what I do, but don't tell my boss.
I also put together a video in the other forum: viewtopic.php?f=79&t=64150

Its called instructing lol. The pay is still crap but no risk of frostbite (for the most part).iflyforpie wrote: Nark, you hit the nail on the head. There are jobs out there that get you flying as PIC of an aircraft from day one that pay decently and don't involve being a ramp rat or flight attendant...

Re: Buffalo Rampie!!!
Or it's called going out of civilization and finding a small company that runs 185s, 206s, or even 172s on wheels and doesn't have the Navajo or King Air which paradoxically seems to mean lower wages and 'paying' for a job. Most will involve some ramp duties, but they are flying positions where you are logging PIC hours.
Lots of these smaller companies will pay quite reasonably to attract and retain pilots since they typically have lower overhead (few employees, no lease payments, cheaper training--not that it matters if you are buying a PPC) and many pilots seem to abhor fleets that have only one fan per plane.

Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?
