I too am in the bottom third of seniority.

I'm awarded every day off that I bid, (from the first month online).

At this point, I average 14-16 days off a month depending on what I bid for.

We are not running around trying to intentionally get fired to get out the bond (seriously?).

A few things need to drastically change (Pay, Per Diems, Disability benefits).

I bring my significant other and friends on some of my layovers...because we can (guess what...I did at other airlines too!)

There are no tricks or surprises. Everything is outlined in the employment offer.

There's a lot of potential here!

Heard from the CEO the other day, that a new private source of financing has been secured (IPO will be on hold till mid 2011). Announcement coming very soon as well as some expansion. Forecasting September or October G/S's. Stay Tuned.

Are they going to interview for this or is there an established pool from which they'll draw?

Cheers!

The one good thing is when you get upgraded internally, you retain you date of hire seniority when you get on the captain list which can get you quite up the list avoiding the reserve/left over schedule for the juniors captains. Would be a shit storm for sure if that clause wasn't there.

Upgrading guys with 2,000 hours would be good for moral support?

I know there are a lot of guys there now with the time on type, total time, multi pic, 705 or any other magic numbers that they would be looking for so I have a hard time beleiving they are still hiring direct entry captains.

sept 7th small ground school of direct entry captains. I heard a few sky service guys got the call for sure. More G/s in the future for F/O's as well. So hang tight, hopefully the pool level decreases.

cheers

How can they not have internal candidates qualified for these openings?

Porter has ~80 FOs, most of whom have been flying the line for well over a year, in some cases two or three. Many current FOs flew in 705 or similar operations (Georgian, etc) prior to Porter. They have been logging 80hrs/month, have 800-1000+ hrs on the Q, have the experience out of YTZ/EWR/BOS/YUL/YOW that Porter wants..... At some point the growth stagnates, and they've got to look internally for these promotions..... What is the "standard" to become a CA at Porter? Do their FOs get to do any sort of evaluations to be looked at?

How come all of a sudden on a Saturday, is it revealed that there are no more bonds, what happens to all of the people that have paid and are in bonds, do they get the remainders back? this all seems a little fishy.

No one here has paid a bond. You sign a bond, nothing out of pocket. We don't buy jobs.
