ISTP ... you're missing out on one of life's greatest manly pleasures .... being drunk, playing with firearms, and touching off a few hundred rounds!

Even better if an arrest is involved.

I'm just kind of curious. I don't hear of many people that own them. And no, I don't want one in my house. The way I drink and think up crazy ideas, that's a recipe for disaster. It's bad enough I go camping with a Leatherman and semi-healthy love of fire.
You need to get your RPAL first. Then you will want to find a local club with the facilities that you want. The club will have a seperate safety course for you to take. Most will have a probationary period where you will be asked to come and participate in supervised shoots with an instructors gun. Once off of probation at the club, you'll get them to apply on your behalf for an ATT to take your gun to the club (or any club in the province) from your home. Storage is only at your house, or in limited circumstances, your business address.

Storage of a restricted is either trigger locked, and in a locked cabinet, or locked in a safe. Unloaded storage is the law.

If you are suggesting you are not responsible enough to own one, stick with that thought. You know you better than anyone.

The only thing I have to add to that is in order for your club to apply for your ATT you must already have purchased a firearm.

For the proverbial best bang for your buck, get a Springfield XD or a Sig. For a 1911 go with a Springfield or a Kimber, or if you really have some money burning a hole in your pocket an Infinity, whatever you choose you should consider a 40 cal, same energy transfer as a 45 but stacks better.
