Sorry. I remebered incorrectly. Its 227K

The scale is per hour, not per year.

That's not $227K, that's $227.00/hr (flight hour) and that's mainline, not Jazz

I think if you read Jackg737s post he meant to say that Jazz pilots are NOT making 227k like 777 drivers, but do make out ok financially. I think he forgot to add the NOT, but anyway this is just what I got out of it.

or I could stay annonomys and to make sure my career is protected, in fact I'm quite happy that you think I'm a 12 year old. Now it's a ligitamate question, what's an answer that your interviewers won't see right through. Why would someone want to work for JAZZ rather than WestJet or Air Canada? I couldn't think of one ligitamate answer, Any JAZZ recent hirers get this? and what did you say?

Many people have gotten hired so I guess there must be some legimitate answers....

As for people wanting to work for Jazz rather than AC or WJ, well many have decided to stay at Jazz and no it is not because they could not get on at AC or WJ.

I wil let you figure those out on your own in the mean time here is some advice for ya

I can think of two reasons.

WJ=I just don't want to be brainwashed.I can only smile when I'm happy.
AC=In my heart I'm to young to be that bitter.

Speaking as a 36 year 777 Captain at AC there has not been a bitter day in my career. If you are basing your career decisions on a few "bitter" comments on this forum you are unfortunately misdirected.

I wouldn't be putting to much stock into what Aviator2010, Deer, and jackg737 are posting. It is plainly obvious they are a couple of kids that don't know any better. Probably in college still, living at home, and thinking when they graduate the airlines will call them and offer direct entry Captains positions.

When some of them offer up some real proof of actually having some experience I will retract my statement....my guess is that won't happen.

I am gonna answer your question and I am not even a pilot. The answer is that not all pilots meet the requirements to fly at WestJet/Air Canada at that stage in their career and if that is their ultimate goal is to fly bigger aircraft Jazz is a good place to get airline experience as well as build time on Jets and large turbo-prop aircraft. Now that being said some would be just as happy to stay at Jazz.

Even though minimum requirements maybe similar there are many people applying at WestJet and Air Canada that far exceed these requirements with jet time, airline experience, 737,767,320,etc type rated.....sooooo if you are a King Air Capt with good experience but no jet time your application may not stack up against a guy that just got layed of from Sky Service/Zoom, etc...soooo Jazz would be a logical choice at add to his/her experience.

Jazz is not the only way to get this experience either, some choose First Air, Cnd North, Sunwing, CanJet, Porter, all the Cargo operators, Corporate, Etc...

But who am I to judge you Aviator2010 you already knew this due to your vast experience

Clown....

How's this for an answer:

I enjoy regional flying. Jazz is the best regional airline in the world. The schedules are generally very good, the training is top notch and I have a huge variety of flying to choose from from day 1. The pay is better than any DH-8 or CRJ operator in Canada (and almost the world). I'm rarely fatigued. I can choose where I live. I get great travel priviledges. Tapson is finally doing something (don't actually say this), etc, etc

There are a lot of pluses to Jazz, and I kind of get annoyed when the naysayers come on this forum and trash talk it. It pays less than AC and WJA (smaller aircraft=smaller revenue per pilot) but it's just as good to work for as the other 2 (same ballpark anyways).

I work at WJA now, and although I'm glad I'm at WJA, if I had to spend my entire career at Jazz, I would still have a darn good career.

Let me share with all of you what I said at my interview when I was asked this question.

"I have been doing this a fairly long time, I want a family and my wife and I are finally starting to settle down. I enjoy short haul flying and am not interested in long haul. I do not want to go to WJ as I have NO desire to live in Calgary and will avoid commuting at all cost. If I'm happy at the company I am at I will have no reason to move on. I want stability and I'm not looking for another stepping stone. If AC calls one day I can't say I won't consider it however going to the bottom of another seniority list and having to possibly move/commute until I can bid back home is something I am VERY uninterested in. I've heard from friends that work here that it's a great place to be with a good schedule and work rules and those are my priorities."

I am very happy here and have no intention of leaving. It's a great place to work. It has it's issues but all airlines do no matter how much sunshine people from other airlines try to blow up your ass. Sure I'd like to make more money but wouldn't we all. Those 777 Captains who are the highest paid pilots in the country are gunning for a raise too so take it as you will. I enjoy this type of flying but if you don't well, you'd obviously not be happy at Jazz for a career.

I've said it a million times on this forum bid lifestyle not metal. I know some guys who made it to AC and got on some big planes fast but you know what, they'll be working every Christmas and weekend for the next 10 years while I'll be carving turkey and seeing my kids' sports games and dance recitals. That's my choice so I'd appreciate it if you didn't knock me for it.

I'm captain of the space shuttle....Air Canada does call me on the weekends every now and then to fill in for people on sick leave as I have type ratings on every one of their aircraft.....cause I'm awesome.

I wouldn't believe a word they said unless I saw their license in person.

absolutly, if you got 10 or 15 years in than it doesn't make sense to go to the bottom of a seniority list at mainline (not nearly as big a lifestyle change to go to WS. But JAZZ is never going to be someone's first choice if they want to fly for the majors. the money isn't their the life style is the same (reserve) and no one want's to fly the worlds highest time dash 8's (I know you have some new one's comming)

Actually our reserve rules are probably the best in the country.
