The addresses there should give you an idea of whether they are located at CYYC. If not, a quick phone call will tell you. You'll have to pick up the phone in any case, so you know who to address your covering letter/resume to.North Shore wrote:Dude, you're in YYC... show some initiative: Put together a resume, head out to CYYC, pull your pants up, turn your cel off, turn your baseball cap to face forward on your head and bang on doors. If no-one hires you the first time around, do it again in three weeks, and every three weeks thereafter until someone gives you a job.
Ok, I'm giving you a little bit of attitude here, and I should perhaps cut you some slack, given your age... However, this is pretty basic job-hunting stuff, and it feels to me like you are expecting us to spoon-feed you company names and contact people without doing any work yourself. Ask your parents or teachers (guidance counsellor?) for the basic help, and then come back to us with the more specialised questions like "Does anyone know the name of the HR person at XYZ company? I can't find it anywhere."
Good Luck.
Sorry if I sounded that way. I have looked and have found a number of potential companies. I was just wondering, because i know some of them, like CMA, would probably not hire me, if there were some that people know would hire a 16 year old. My parents don't think I will be able to find a job. I have found the address, Chief Pilot, and HR person of most of these airlines through Pilot Career Centre.
I am happy to fire off some emails and make some phone calls. i just wanted some inside information for example if somebody has worked for one of these companies and would like to recommend them. I thought that was what avsim was somewhat about. Sharing of information on the topic of aviation,

Jack,
You remind me of me when I was 16 (and younger).
While it's excellent that you are obviously motivated and keen to get into an aviation career, the truth is that the next few years of school are very important for you. That is what you need to concentrate on right now. Don't worry about the flying gig- it will still be there when you are done school. Don't get hung up on working on any ramps or swinging bags right now. Concentrate on one thing: your academics. If you want a part time job also, then that's great. Pumping gas or working at McD's never hurt anyone. In fact I would encourage you work outside of aviation to start. Some 'life experience' outside of flying will make you richer (IMHO).
I wish I had put as much effort into my high school classes as I put into reading my old man's flight manuals.
Just a thought.

Okay ya. Well i found out the bus ride would be an 1 hour and a half, so it doesn't make any sense anyways to go up there. I could just get a job at the pool across from my house swim instructing.
