Hard working, high time, Anglo Male Pilot - high percentage of PFO.

Who's getting hired and who's getting PFO'd?

In order to render a judgement one way or the other, you would have to have the statistical information of the rejection rate of the applicants in each respective category. Then you could compare the relative rejection rates to determine whether or not there is in fact a bias.yycflyguy wrote:Completely false.Stu Pidasso wrote:The hiring formula at AC, is pretty simple:

Re: Who's getting hired and who's getting PFO'd?
25+ years here, tells me different. During different hiring cycles they have called female Pilots and asked them to apply, that is a fact.
I don't know any guys who have received a call and been asked to please apply?
Just like the Air Force, "X%" of promotions to Major must be Francophone. This place runs on quotas, to a substantially larger extent than other Airlines in Canada.
I hear the PFO factor is running at nearly 50%, it would be an interesting exercise to see the breakdown? History tells me, I can guess the answer.
Maybe we should discuss the double standard to qualify to be bilingual, in this Country?
Now, I was recently told that using the existing hiring point system. Being Bilingual carries the same point value as a University Degree?
Put that into the unsubstantiated category - but I intend to find out if it is correct.

With all due respect sir you are totally misinformed about everything in your post...
Re: Who's getting hired and who's getting PFO'd?
Last big hiring cycle, about 4 years ago now, I recieved a call from AC, the call was a reference check for a friend. The context of the call after the reference check was, have you applied? Tell your buddies to apply, university degree not required, no mention of making sure my buddies are female francaphone physicist pilots. After the call ended, I was left with the impression they were running out of candidates with the usual qualifications and that any pilot would do.
Me, white male, no degree and at the time nothing over 12500, he didn't seem to care. A couple months after that I did get an invite for an interview, which I respectfully declined because I was in day 3 of Jazz orientation week. Yep AC missed out on having me by a few days
