What is it they say? Better to be silent and have everybody think you are an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I have got to ask you hz2p, which one of these attributes you listed indicates intelligence?
1. Time and money. Take the course enough times and you will pass. Dad buys a new wing for the university, and you will pass.
2. If my family has money, I will have money.
3. Airplanes all pretty much fly the same. A circling NDB into a remote strip in an old airplane without and auto pilot, or minimum VFR in the rough is more impressive to me than high and fast.
4. The world is much more about who you know than what you know. Who you know and money.
5. This one is just insulting. It is insulting to every soldier who killed or was killed in this conflict. GWB didn't invade or conquer anything. He sat in a nice safe office half way around the world and took the advice of the generals who planned and carried out the invasions. Show some respect for those who actually had to do the job.
There is not one item in this list that denotes intelligence. Some of the smartest people in history have never done a single thing on your list.
Perhaps you need to ask:
1. How many inventions did GWB create?
2. Did GWB change the way we view the universe in a fundamental way, like Copernicus or Einstein did?
3. How many great works of art did GWB create?
4. Did GWB improve the way we view our lives and our place in existence? What was his impact upon philosophy and existentialism?
5. Did the contributions of GWB make the world a better place in anyway, or were was it of a negative contribution?
Perhaps you disagree. I just don't see how any of the attributes you list are an indicator of intelligence, so if you still see them that way, could you please explain how they reflect this.

George W. Bush has two university degrees, from Yale and a Harvard MBA. You were the first person in your family to graduate from high school.
George W. Bush is a millionaire. You can't even pay your credit card off each month.
George W. Bush flew F-105's. You think a C150 is a big deal.
George W. Bush was elected Governor of Texas, and President of the United States. Twice. You couldn't get elected as Mayor of your craphole backwater little town if you spent a lifetime trying.
George W. Bush invaded and conquered two countries: Iraq and Afganistan. Note that the latter kicked the Soviet Union's butt. You couldn't control the shopping carts in a parking lot of a Walmart.
If George W. Bush is stupid, you're a whole lot dumber than he is.

Don't forget hz2p's genius buddy denied stem cell research funding on religious grounds, and he unilaterally pulled the United States out of many international agreements leaving the rest of the world doubting that the United States could be trusted.
With regard to countries conquered, GWB didn't conquer anything. First and foremost it was the soldiers under his command that did all the blood work, not Bush. And neither Iraq or Afghanistan are behaving very subdued. Iraq was also an illegitimate war fought on false pretences, which I wouldn't be very proud of if I were George.
Finally, Hitler directly conquered something like 21 countries. A record like that must make hz2p wet his pants in admiration.

Re: The comedy is switching to high gear...
Not that I want to get dragged into a debate on the merits of GWB - but I do take issue with this point. GWB didn't invade, or conquer a damn thing. He was the POTUS, and as such had access to the "Go" Button for the largest armed forces on earth.hz2p wrote:5) which countries you successfully invaded and conquered
He gave the "okay" for the armed forces to invade other countries. It was a hell of a lot of young, ordinary US citizens who did the invading and conquering, not GWB. I don't give a rat's ass if he was the Commander in Chief, he was never the one getting shot at.

Doc,
Get off your smug Canadian horse.
The average Canadian doesn't even vote; put them in an igloo, and they couldn't count to 11 either.
North,
You mean the Democratic VP candidate in 2004, that is facing 30 years in jail because of misuse of campaign contributions? He never served, let alone honorably, so you must mean, Sen Kerry; who threw away his medals, and sang campfire songs with Hanoi Jane?
Whether you like the man or not, as POTUS, Pres Bush he stepped into the war zone to thank the men and women he sent there. (Thanksgiving 2003)
When was the last time you thanked a Vet, let alone stepped in to an austere environment to do it?
I like Gov Palin. She'd make a much better President than the one I have now.
Will she be the front Republican next year? No.
She garners massive press, and AvCanada turmoil.
I like it when you lefties are challenged.

Re: The comedy is switching to high gear...
NArk,
John Edwards was born in 1953, thus turning 18 in 1971 - by which point Vietnamization was well underway. You are correct, though, as he did not serve.
Kerry, as I'm sure that you know well, earned 3 purple hearts, and a Bronze and a Silver star. Regardless of what he did with the medals afterward, the medals should qualify as honourable service in anyone's book.
Al Gore also served in Vietnam, stating afterward: "I didn't do the most, or run the gravest danger. But I was proud to wear my country's uniform."
OTOH,
Dick Cheney had 'more important business' and GWB enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard.
While Bush may well have gone to a war zone to thank the men and women serving there, I'm sure that had he, Cheney and Rumsfeld had any first-hand experience at the sharp end of the stick, then they would have been a little less gung-ho to place you and your comrades in harm's way in Iraq.
Thanking vets - every Remembrance Day at my old Highschool, and last winter at an Aircrew Association lunch.
As for an austere environment - you know where I live in the summer - does that count?

If you like her I'll bet you wish Yosemite Sam was running. After all they talk the same, think the same, have the same solutions to problems, but he's slightly less of a cartoon than she is. Arriving unannounced in Air Force One in the dead of night, no doubt escorted by at least 4 F-15's. Surrounded by dozens of Secret Service and literally thousands of US soldiers in the safest part of Baghdad. Yup, he's a brave one. (Don't get me wrong, it's one of the few things he did right considering he sent them there to die by the thousands and kill by the hundreds of thousands under false pretences in the first place).Nark wrote:Pres Bush he stepped into the war zone to thank the men and women he sent there.
She mangles everything because she knows nothing. If she doesn't repeat what her tutor tells her within five minutes it all disappears from her 2kb memory, then her voice rises in panic when it dawns on her she hasn't got a frick'in clue what she's talking about. They would if they had been earned honorably. If you talk to many people who served in Swift Boats while Kerry was there, they would tell you he did not deserve any medals and he did not do a full tour of duty in country. He stabbed his fellow sailors in the back after he came home. You call that honor?
