Feck -

If the pay/terms/schedule/aircraft are better than where you are today, than go there.
Obviously this isn't a career spot the way it sits today, but if it's better than where you are and advances your aspirations take it for what it is.

People who don't even work there bickering about their company is holier-than-thou and all this self-righteous bullshat is irrelevant when someone looks at the hand they are dealt.

Don't get me wrong, I mean I would never work there, just sayin'...

Bigger don't mean better. See CALPA. Politics get in the way far too often. Also see my opinion of the Canadian College of Professional Pilots. CCPP might end up just being another political body but we have to try to remedy the problems of national seniority and whipsawing.
True but no other pilot union has the resources of ALPA and having everyone in the same union would be a start. The politics of CALPA revolved around removing barriers and competition which involved people making sacrafices for the greater good. We are currently no better off now than we were than due to a lack of vision for the future. The future of our profession will be in the adoption of portable seniority and standarized pilot payscales. Without it we are doomed to continue this downward spiral.
Not sure I follow. ACPA pay scales, in their purest form, are based on aircraft weight, speed and payload capabilities. If we can get ALL our planes back on that formula it would benefit everyone. Even our direct domestic competitor Westjet as AC is a comparator group that they use to determine their payscale.
But wages are also based on the smaller aircraft in your peer group. If there is a large enough gap between say CRJ or DHC wages and Mainline wages there will be pressure on the higher wages to either come down or not rise as much. Sky Regional and any other diversified tier II lift conpanies will also be a drag on ACPA pay. The words "they can do it cheaper" will come back to haunt ACPA I'm afraid. Being the best paid regional pilots in the country we too have significant cost pressure. This will hurt come diversification time in a few years but at what cost to our profession as a whole.

That is the million dollar idea.
