Augsburg had 8 Qs. All 8 were bought, 2 were sold right away. 6 on the way by end of December, 1 may get parted out or sold. Not sure how many will be actually operated maybe 3 or 4 and others sold or leased out.

Just where the heck are they going to park them all ? Cause the south end of YYC is really starting to look like a real aircraft boneyard.

And is there enough ramp space to operate more Cariboo aircraft ?

Air Partners will be out of their hanger in early December, the ramp and hanger space are Cariboo's. It is going to be tight though.

Those requirements are Shell, $76k for Captain and $39k for FO. Not sure if Q will be higher pay yet.

Can't see them getting too many "Type Rated" guys for those numbers...

Yes but how many of those guys are going to be as happy as the guys at NCA if things don't pan out the way everyone's hoping at WJE?

Hey WG, check your PMs!

I don't actually know of any

In all seriousness though, I only know about 6 guys that made the move to Encore. Most are F/O's that wanted a quick upgrade to the left seat and two are captains that have dreams of making mainline.

To each their own... It's just my opinion that the resume stack will be a little thin @ 76K.

Does anyone know what kind of flying they will be doing on the Q400?

Same kind of stuff the fleet is doing now. Oil sands and northern BC and Alberta.

Oh ok. Is it more of a replacement of current Dash 8 fleet? Or will the current Dash 8 fleet be kept and fully new crews on the NCA Q400's?

It'd be interesting to see who'd be applying with a Q400 type rating right now.

I have always thought NCA would be a great place to work... Is there any truth to the YVR base rumour? If anyone on the board has any insight, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

A couple 300s may get sold but I'd be surprised. Mostly an increase of the fleet numbers and seats. All crews on the Dash now will eventually get cross trained.

Yes. Not sure date yet but it'll be an aircraft base. Crews will rotate initially from YYC no plan for a crew base yet.

Anyone know if the Avro RJ's are still coming? Any hiring news?

The Q400 has been around for more than 15 years. It was not a big success for Bombardier. If it is anything like the other Dash 8's ( which it is) it will be a hangar queen.

It wasn't a massive success for Bombardier initially. Now it's doing quite well, as North American Operators see the utility of it.

Which explains why the Dash 8 is one of the most common turboprop aircraft in the world....

Coming...not sure about hiring on those.

Don't worry Gilles - it isn't being operated by a UK carrier - yuk yuk yuk yuk.

There'll probably be some movement with the -300's if/when the Q400's come. May sell some of the newer -300's to free up capacity etc. etc.

On the mechanical side, a lot of things are a different with the Q. It really is as modernized as a Dash can get while retaining some sort of commonality. A lot of relays, engine stuff, pneumatic, air con stuff has been replaced with magic boxes. Both a good and bad thing I guess.

As with most things - believe it when I see 'em.
