Yeah, I hear ya dude. Those insurance people are indeed a special breed. That is rather odd though, that you can't get insured by them, with your time. Then again, even if you had three space shuttle landings, these insurance companies would probably still find something to argue about.

Hope things work out for you. 8)

Rumour has it that the Jazz folks in the pool have had their medicals and status cancelled out for hiring to mainline, so the opportunities for hiring off the street look much better now.

This comes from a friend who has had his cancelled, telling me that others at Jazz have too. I do not know if this is across the board for all Jazz applicants though, or if this is based on the particular profiles of some.

That sucks for them, but probably makes sense for AC. Hiring those guys creates another vacant position within the parent company and therefore triggers the training costs that go with it.

The Jazz guys are out for now.

Just came back from a talk with a manager.

The AC profile for hiring has changed from previous hirings.

There is still a points system. They are looking for crew experience, university is not necessary, not requiring high time, not requiring ATP.

However, it was explained that without some combination of university or college, military or jet experience, or ATP, or some higher time, it is unlikely that you would have enough points. The message to me though was that the door is more wide open than it ever has been, and they are looking to attract young keen pilots (once again).

It was unclear about the exact bottomline on the hour total experience required, (I don't want to post an inaccurate figure, but it is not that high), but over the minimum you will get some points for more, but not hugely weighted for high time, apparently.

Basically they want keen people that are crew experienced, willing to adapt to the AC system, without huge baggage, and thankful for the opportunity to be at AC. Probably similar to what Skyservice or Westjet are looking for - pilots without an attitude of entitlement!! What a concept! :P

The initial screening is by an outside HR group. I believe the name is Hewitt. They do the initial screening and probably the cogscreen, etc. Only online applications. Attach all documents to that, cut and paste into the application form.

Unknown who does the sim eval, but suspect it's AC. Pilot board is the final process.
