They have a tendency to hire in droves and lay off in droves. The drama never ends there. If you would like to find out for yourself, have a few drinks some night with the ex-Jazz NSCC instructors and when they let their guard down, ask em about the place. Make sure they've had a few first though!

Don't ever say you weren't warned! 24k....jesus, I still can't believe it.
No, not Jazz. Sure it would be nice but I'm realistic. Being a former Dispatcher, I've got backup plans on backup plans. lol

$24k is pretty expensive but thankfully the Government is picking up the tab on this one. ;)

As far as I have heard Jazz is hiring in Halifax...and plans should always include the possibility of changing jobs. If your smart enough you can always see impending layoffs coming and make changes accordingly.

If you wait for it to happen, then blame the industry, and leave it...well...you can see the result

It's all relative ourkid...I someone lives at home in Halifax, no room an board, no travelling expenses then it is no more expensive than paying $12k and living in Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver.

I went to NSCC-M program and all I can say is we got RIPPED off big time.
Other colleges will offer the same material (with better aids) for around 10k. Only plus side is you get an extra 4 months accreditation from NSCC.

If the gov is fronting the bill I would take the program. The instructors are great and you can get all the 1 on 1 instruction you need.

If youre not willing to relocate I wouldnt consider the career choice

I thought Red River was the only one that gave 20 months in Canada and no other gave more but I see that NCSS does give 22 months.
Most schools give 18 months

That's worth something I guess...

When you say "Ripped Off", what do you mean? ...because you go on to say that the instructors were pretty good...

The school I went to in NL gives you 21 months and check out their tuition prices (http://www.cna.nl.ca/registration/fees-charges.asp)....... a little north of 1k per semester.

Also, note that the 21 months can go towards both M & E licenses. No other school in Canada offers that. Those are two separate $24,000 courses at NSCC

http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/s ... ic-529.htm

To clarify the experience credit I should mention how it works. When you work in the field for about two years you can use this credit towards one of either the M or E license, whichever you've been working in. After this, the credit is gone so you cannot use it for your other license if you want to switch disciplines.

So, lets say I have been out of school and working for 2 years as an M apprentice and I apply the credit after successfully writing CARS to get my license (with logbook approval of course). What sets me apart from the NSCC-M graduate is that I still have the training requirement for the E license but cannot claim any experience. In order for me to get my E license, I would have to first get a job as an avionics apprentice and work in that position for ONE year. Pending logbook approval, I can now apply to get my E license......make sense?
