C'mon, admit it, that's terrific

Yep. You don't see fuel diagrams in isometric very much, do you?

really needs to have this in their takeoff checklist:
THROTTLE - forward
BRAKES - release
RUDDER - right
ELEVATOR - back
I'm really sorry, but they're just not bright enough to
operate an aircraft.
OH MY GOD YOU ARE SO RIGHT ! I tried using this check in my Nanchang and it
Didn't work at all

The rudder is to control and prevent yaw. Right rudder on takeoff won't work so well in a DH Tiger Moth, Zlin Trener, or Lake Buccaneer either.

Old manuals didn't always trust you knew what you were doing. Check out this gem from an RCAF P-40 manual:
LnS.

I wonder if that was merely good advice, or an operating
limitation on the type certificate?

Just good advice, those guys survived their "landing" after all.

Here's my favorite checklist of all time.
Abandoning Aircraft In Flight
Proceed as follows:
a) Open canopy fully by pulling inward sharply on the canopy drag flap release cable.
b) ENSURE YOUR STUDENT ABANDONS THE AIRCRAFT.
c) Turn fuel OFF.
d) Place all switches OFF
e) Undo safety harness.
f) Trim aircraft for glide away from inhabited area
g) Vacate the cockpit, step onto the wing and dive over the trailing edge away from aircraft.
Apparently its really bad form to leave your student behind.

Is that from a Grob G120A?

I'll bet your FTU checklist is a lot longer than this:
Is your 172 really that much more complicated
than a Boeing?
