Okay...?!?
Pardon me Rookie50, for drifting your reasonable thread (I'll owe you one).
I, for better than 40 years, have been the recipient of a magnificent amount of mentoring in aviation. Though I possess experience and wisdom, it is not mine, it is only on lone to me, from others who have gone before, and I must honour their generosity by passing this wisdom onward as best I can. So I offer it in places I think might have the most positive effect, to inspire, and safely encourage newer pilots. AvCanada seems good.
So, I take a lot of responsibility for wanting to offer safe and helpful information, tailored as best as I can figure, to suit the understanding of the newer pilots, to whom it is directed here. I sure would not want to turn anyone off aviation, by seeming to be exclusive. To anyone face to face, I will say with pride, the same things I will write in these posts....
We all have different objectives and motivations, and everyone is entitled to be respected for them...

I put a fair amount of effort into trying to
improve knowledge of essential stuff to
pilots. I've got a long list of articles still
to write, but it's a start.
And in person, one pilot at a time, I try to
improve the skills of pilots around me. It
doesn't pay much compared to what else I
could be doing, but it's extremely rewarding
to be able to help people not have accidents
in the near future. And the way you do that,
is to boil stuff down to what's important, and
focus on that.
Re: Too fast on final.
Dar, it's cool. It's a good thread drift. I have only 9 years part time experience, so little experience and less wisdom to offer, except to your 100 hr wonder perhaps. I have several mentors in avaition, and am extremely thankful for them. More valuable than gold are mentors, new pilots out there. Befriend someone with 1000 hrs, 5000, 20000 hrs who will talk to you. And you will learn different things from each person. Certainly helped me carefully mold a good safety culture I try to maintain. Even learned some stuff here!PilotDAR wrote:Okay...?!?

Precisely. I suspect the number of people who readEven learned some stuff here!
this stuff (as opposed to the number of people who
post) is at least 10:1 (perhaps 100:1)
It's worthwhile noting that the Civil Aviation Tribunal
accepts data from the internet, submitted by TC as
evidence, with the same weight as a signed affidavit.
While I personally might raise an eyebrow at such a
practice, them's the rules. Recent Twitter lawsuits
are interesting in this regard, too.

Re: Too fast on final.
Found this and figured it was applicable to the conversation.
Most pilots learn, when they pin on their wings and go out and get in a fighter, especially, that one thing you don't do, you don't believe anything anybody tells you about an airplane.

We can't stop here! This is BAT country!
