It sure as heck isn't going to be next week.
I would bet IF it happens (since they are still negotiating) it would be 6 months at the fastest. Then even if they agree to a merger, it would take months longer to integrate operations and OC's. Best case scenario would be a year or two from now before any sort of merging of SOP's, OC's and seniority lists would be taking pace and that is probably optimistic.

I doubt there will be an integration of OCs or AMOs. I would bet it will be 5Ts OC and AMO. I also expect the SOP for Boeing ops to be 5Ts as well. There will be an integration of company wide operations.

The press release stated a new company with a new name. Pretty sure that'll mean one OC and AMO with integrated operations. The SOP's will likely be 5T's since we seem to be the driving force behind the merger. Not much reason to keep separate OC's and not sure that would be even viable once a merger was complete.
I believe they are still working on it and the various labour groups are working on seniority lists and such --
So when they merge seems to me it's just opening the doors for the cycle to start all over again -- prior to Canadian North First Air enjoyed several years of having very little competition especially after the NWT merge -- and were actually making money -- that created a large outcry from the northern people blaming the lack of competition -- then fighting over who was to control First Air if the "western" group bought in -- voila -- the birth of Canadian North -- and good buy to the profits in the western arctic for First Air -- so now it looks like a merge and back to one -- how long before another group starts up and we are right back to where we started -- might take many years but it will happen
Best thing for northern residents is to get AC and WS out of Yellowknife -- strange that people in YK would be upset but then again, do they care about the true northerners who bare the brunt of fare increases because AC and WS are flooding the south bound routes with seats which forces the true northern carrier to increase rates --
Nothing can be done with seniority lists until a new CBA is reached with whatever the merged management will be. This is going to be a long process if it goes through. 5T is still bringing on more 300s and picking up more flying.
Is there "pre" merger maneuvering going on with 7F giving up their 767 and associated work to Cargojet ? If 5T is growing and 7F on the slide, what will a combined airline look like ?
The 767 was getting average daily utilization of 4 hours per day. That should have gone long ago.
7F has been bleeding for a long time. Whether the merger happens or not, tightening the ship needs to happen.
I'm pretty sure if this merge goes through there will be a total re-branding -- First Air/ Bradley and Canadian North will fade into memory and become names only the current generations of aviators will remember -- there will be a northern theme and flavour but no trips down memory lane with call signs or references to bygone days --
