Any updates to the hiring situation? Did they hire enough to fly all their new 737? The ad is gone from their website.

When did the UNIVERSITY requirement show up? I don't ever recall that one being in there?

An employer can require that new hires have an education. Or are you now against those rights now too? I could list hundreds of employers that require university.

Can anyone speak of the benefits package and pension (if any) offered at Transat? What would the schedule look like for a newbie?

From the Air Transat pilots' collective agreement:

21.1.4 No FCM shall be required to spend any money to cover the cost of training or the use of equipment during training.

Good day.

There is no training bond at Air Transat.

EDIT: After verification, there is, indeed, a training bond in place at Air Transat since the introduction of the 737, but it is so restrictive that only a pilot who would leave with a fresh PPC for a direct competitor, in the same seat, on the same type might end up having to pay. (e.g. F/O to F/O...)

The company initially introduced a full training bond unilaterally but our union opposed it and it was finally negotiated as described above...

Yes, rumors are that new pilots on 737 get training bounds.
There is some much bashing going on in the industry, you don't know what to believe anymore.

TBs have been updated as of june 2014. It basically says now you won't leave AT within 3 years after your Type Rating to fly:

1. the same a/c type AND
2. at the same positon i.e. f/o AND
3. for a direct competitor.

If you read between the lines.... They won't be impressed if you come only to upgrade your resume to apply at SW.

100 % of the initial training is given in ENGLISH if there is one unilingual anglophone in the classroom!

Some unilingual anglophone hired in 2014. Respectful workplace attitude!
