How many different job required speaking of a second language ?

Tons of gov job, customer service etc... required being fluent in a second language ( french )

So what is the problem with transat having the same requirement ? Its a private company they can put the minimum they want

Stochey,

The problem lies in hypocrisy. A type rating is an absolute legal requirement to fly an airplane for an airline is it not? Sunwing is a private company is it not? What is the problem with them wanting a candidate to hold a type rating prior to working just as Transat wants you to speak French?

Gilles,

Shall I share my opinion of every air service in Canada? One does not need to dig very deep to where I expressed my disdain for the policies of AC and the ACPA. I happen to agree with you very much regarding the TFW's. I've stated that previously, but don't support or justify your company in being hypocritical.

Sorry but Transat is a French Canadian company based in YUL. There are a large number of employees who speak French as their first language. The language spoken in many of their cockpits is French. It's not discrimination that Transat prefers pilots who speak both languages. And as it turns out, they do hire English-only speakers...so quit complaining. If you don't like it, apply somewhere else.
