The Supreme Court of Canada dismissed his appeal Sept 16/2010, and back to the slammer he goes (Thunder Bay District Jail). He has a bail hearing mid-December/2010. If unsuccessful, he’s looking at another 6 months in the crowbar hotel.

While I have some sympathy for Mr. Montague's situation, he and his family made a series of choices which led them to the current state of affairs.
I'll submit, for consideration, the case of Betty Crawczyk ( http://bettysearlyedition.blogspot.com/ ) who is currently at risk of being declared a 'dangerous offender' and being locked up for the rest of her life.

I guess the same could be said for Betty. I realize she's opposing the legitimacy of the court to impose such a sentence for civil disobedience and is prepared to pay the price. In either case, which I do not see as dissimilar, I don’t think peaceful dissent should be treated like mass murder.

Its reported that Bruce Montague was released from jail today. He will now fight to keep the government from taking his log home, built by his hands and should be inherited by his children one day. He has never made a dollar from his peaceful opposition to the gun registry yet his home is being taken as proceeds of a crime. He has never threatened nor used a firearm against anyone. I'm not proud to be a Canadian today and will never vote for a fucking Liberal as long as I live. Mr Harper, you're not perfect but a lot better than what we had. You have my support.

I read that he was released yesterday, but did not realize they were taking his home. Very sad. The man had more courage than most of us, to stand up for what he believes in. I wish him the best.
